Nothing gets you more respect in prison than being there for excessive window tinting...

You mean you won't complain that your civil rights were violated because you were breaking the law and let off with a warning? You are a strange man.

you do realize that we would be living in a much diminished state of existance if people didn't complain about stupid laws that infringe on their rights? Especially laws that are applied in a descriminatory manner in an effort to try and entrap someone into displaying that they have broken another, unrelated, law.

yeah. im a real oddball

thats how the game works. It would be nice if that tactic didnt have to be used and suspicion alone would be enough for a cop to pull someone over without some making some initial petty argument (tinted windows, lane change violation, license plate tag, etc), but people would go irrate about their rights

interpreting the "non-obstruction" law as a carte blanche to search/pull over cars is, I'm pretty sure, infringing on your search/seizure rights established by the supreme court.

So all of you guys who are saying to brock "OMG you broke the law bend over plz" can go to hell.

My car rides rough as hell. I live just off Gessner. The result is that I'm rather intimately familiar with every bump and pothole on the street. I know where each of the worse ones are, and I changed lanes accordingly and thus, rather frequently.

I had a cop on my tail last night. I wasn't speeding and I hadn't been drinking. Since I knew I was in the clear, I kept changing lanes just like I always do. He pulled me over. Now, there are three permanent reasons I can get pulled over:

    1) My tint is limo-tint, and thus illegal
    2) I don't have a plate on the front bumper cuz, you know, it looks silly
    3) I have a Ford Motorsport license plate frame that does, indeed, obscure an oil derrick or something

I figured he must be pulling me over for one of those three things. Wouldn't be the first time. I sat patiently, waiting for the cop to come up to the window. Instead, he drove up parallel to my window and apologized for pulling me over, explaining that he screwed up and entered my plate number wrong, and I was free to go.

    Awesome.

This and versions like it are the only ones that are acceptable.

Two years ago, it was a friday night in May. I was driving down our main street here, and an undercover cop pulled me over for speeding, and it was in the area of a popular bar. And what she said was in one sentence. "The reason I pulled you over was for speeding...and I am going to give you a warning." She came up, didn't smell beer on me, so that must have been all she was looking for.

it is. they need probable cause to search your car. NEVER consent to a search of your vehicle. that being said, cops can pull anyone over anytime. they just cant search you w/out reason.

i get pulled over about twice a year in the 6th street area for something as stupid as changing lanes w/out using my blinker or the officer claims i was swerving - all it is is an excuse to see if you have been drinking.

Why do people think that changing lanes (or turning) without signaling isn't a big deal? I wish they gave out more tickets for that, not less. It is one of the basics of driving and the law, not just a courtesy to other drivers.
