That's okay. Astros passing Toronto and landing in the 5th seed isn't desirable. It was unlikely that Toronto falls completely out of the playoffs to open up another spot.
Certainly a possibility. Will be interesting to see how they play it (just as it will be interesting to see what AZ does if they clinch after tonight).
Based on Houston's overall sports history -- especially considering its rival to the north -- Astros fans should want everything.
Arizona does what the rest of the states should start doing and stop changing the damn clocks. Since they don't observe daylight savings time, they have Pacific Time hours until we move back the clocks.
Possibly agree --- whatever is done should be done by all. Currently, that's not the case. Arizona casinos also charge for alcohol sometimes.
Yeah, the NL wild card race will definitely be a factor. If Arizona has the 5th spot clinched before Sunday, they're almost certainly gonna avoid taxing their bullpen or using one of their better starting pitchers against us since they'd have to play on Tuesday at Philly. Granted, that doesn't mean much with the Astros. They just went 2-7 against the A's and Royals who had literally nothing to play for. But it technically would make Sunday's game far more winnable.
I love the sun when it isn't blazing. I hate the sun when it is blazing. Normal time sucks. I say either do daylight savings time all year, but if you are going to change the clocks, let's change by two hours in Spring to remove an hour of sun after work as well as making games on the West Coast and Arizona an hour earlier. We could call the summer hours Astros savings time.
The measurement of time is arbitrary by nature. Clocks are a tool used by people to schedule their day in order for people to be able to plan in a non-agrarian society. Science shows that daylight savings time has far more positive affects than negative ones. Better mood, better vitamin d production, energy conservation for example. Not only that, the vast majority of Americans would prefer we go to year round daylight saving time.
Astros control their own destiny for a playoff spot with 3 to go in the midst of a 6 year straight ALCS run and you’re “more excited” about the 1-2 Texans who have literally 0% chance of going on any type of run. What are you even doing here?
Remember when the Astros were losing a 100+ games a season. And now we’re upset that the Stros are still in playoff contention and in control of their fate.
Oh, I remember well. But here is a difference. Those 100 loss team were not expected to accomplish anything. You looked up and down those rosters and anyone knew they were not a winning team. The 2023 Astros are a completely different situation. You look up and down this current roster and wonder how they didnt win more than they did. You look at the reasons, and you see some poor decision making and some poor leaders. I for one are not upset that they are struggling for a playoff spot. I am upset cause it shouldn't've have been such a struggle in the first place. Its how they got here and why that bothers me.
