All-Star slugger Albert Pujols agreed to terms on a 10-year deal worth $250 to $260 million. wow $250 million to $260 million over 10 years
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?p=6438249#post6438249 Somehow, I just knew this would come true. Sigh...
Hahahahhaa. Angels are screwed now. Pujols is on serious decline, dude was playing for a contract, accepted the most money, SELFISH. Pujols is not 31, he is probably 35.... Lets be honest here
I'm down about this because it was phenomenal having him wear the Cards jersey the past decade and he became a part of the Lou but in 10 years the Angels won't be loving this(They can talk to the Rangers-who are still paying for A-Rod all these years later, though i believe part of the reason is that Hicks missed some payments after A-Rod was sent to the Yanks). Seriously, is there any reason for a parent to let their kid play football over Baseball when one takes into account the longevity of an MLB career over an NFL career and THE MONEY involved. Wow.
Baseballs have the best contracts to offer players, it's really amazing. A-Rod is a great HOF player IMO, but 10 years 275 million is too much for these players. Even Pujols, who I think is on decline, he only plays 1B, he should be worth 20 million PER year imo.
Wow! So word is coming out that the Angels offered him a no-trade clause after the Marlins refused to offer one. That plus the extra cheddar must have sweetened the deal. The Angels are setting themselves up for a bad final half of his 10 year contract.
People seem to forget that the AL has the DH. Albert wont have to post the field at all. That should keep him around for 10 years easy.
If they end up signing C.J. Wilson along with this, I think it instantly makes them the favorites in the AL West for next season, though.
Depends on how you feel about 3-5 years in the minors followed by 4-6 years of low wage club control before getting a payday. Many players are long gone from MLB before they ever get to any payday (Astros examples: Jason Lane, Morgan Ensberg, Carlos Hernandez).
Damn, why does he have to follow us to the AL West? Wait didn't he say that he enjoys playing in Houston and minute maid? Could this be a factor in his decision?
