Personally I think this one should be displayed if anything is going to be displayed Religion neutral.

    I
One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.
    II
The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.
    III
One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.
    IV
The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.
    V
Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.
    VI
People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.
    VII
Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.

Because it's easier to obey the commandments of an angry old testament God, and weaponize them against those who fall short, than engage with the messiness of real life that the beatitudes require.

    Why are Judeo-Christian values "good"?

Do you often need a reminder on your fridge door that says you shouldn't kill?

You sir, have a very reasonable opinion.

I am going to have to openly question your Christian bona fides.

With 200+ mass shootings in 2023, maybe that reminder on the fridge is needed.

And every single one of those people knew that killing was a sin.

So obviously knowledge of knowing "murder is wrong* isn't changing people's minds when they murder.

I think we can all agree that if you murder someone you're more than likely going to prison or worse, your going to die, yet they still do it, I doubt there even thinking about the 10 Commandments. If you covet thy neighbor, you know its morally wrong and if you get caught you will get divorced or worse someone may shoot you, but you do it anyway, there not thinking about the 10 Commandments.

I now what the Commandments are by going to Church when I was younger, I sure as hell didn't need Klein Forest to post it up on the wall for me to learn it, I don't want religion anywhere near my public schools............The government can stay out of my school and out of my personal business, the gop used to stand for less government but this isn't your dad`s gop anymore.

Very disappointed this post didn't include the poster of the kitten hanging from a tree branch with the phrase, "Hang in There!" emblazoned on it.

The real challenge is explaining to first graders what adultery is without getting in trouble for talking about adultery to first graders.

Talarico is a bright young bench prospect for the Dems. Survived the GOP's effort to gerrymander him out of his seat.
