This **** is awful. As a non-religious type, I hated even having to say the pledge of allegiance. Propaganda including religious propaganda is never harmless. It's literally brainwashing kids when they are young.

So I grew up in a very Catholic area. But I started finding some of the stuff they were teaching us quite ridiculous at a pretty young age.

What do you think does displaying the Ten Commandments "groom" children for?

Is that possibly a bit of an overreaction?

It teaches them to hate Christians and lets them know that there is non separation of church and state. Not all kids will believe in the commandment which in my eye will create a lot of hate for those that do believe.

Let's say you live in the Middle East.

Do you think seeing prominent symbols of Islamic Faith everywhere in public life teaches children and people in general to "hate Muslims"?

That's the logic you are representing here.

Pretty awful example that isn't even close to this Texans attempt to brainwash kids.

Islam is the most prevalent religion in the contemporary Middle East.
Muslims will not get triggered by symbols of Islamic faith since the majority practices it.

In the America where we pride ourselves in diversity and freedom. We have conservatives attempt to ram religious sht down our kids throat. Folks that doesn't practice catholism or Christianity would not like this, but as usual the conservatives can give 2 fks.

Keep religion out if education. If folks want their kids to get spiritual guidance they can go visit a church/temple/mosque etc.

More than 75 % of Texans are Christian.

That's not what i'm saying there is no reason for them to bring there religious thinking to other people s kids. Just like prayer was removed from schools in 62 I'l though i don't agree with it was done because it violated the establishment clause of the First Amendment .

You're right, kids are well known for their sanguine and measured reactions to people telling them what to think. My bad.

So the 10 commandments somewhere on a wall, in a state where 75 % of the population are Christian, will make children hate Christians and distrust government, according to @JuanValdez.

    Okay.

For someone who is very concerned about messages being “forced” on children you seem very nonchalant about government forcing a religious message on children

Not in a free country. It's probably harmless where you are from but it's troublesome that the government is actively supporting a religion. And again, we know you support this type of bill.

It's harmless when it's one's own message, clearly.

Forcing religion onto other folks is a big fk no regardless if the majority of the state is Christian.

Prolife and gun rights folks get triggered when the majority of the nation are for abortion w/ some gun controls. U think the minority religious folk are gonna like being forced fed Christianity?

Of course when the laws benefit u, u don't care about the messaging or impact of the law has on the minority.

Kids already get triggered doing the pledge of alleigance bc it has the word God in it, it's not too farfetched that kids will not react enthusiastically when a religious teacher push the ten commandments down their throat in school. Keep religion and education separate.
