Thanks to government intervention of the free markets and the creation of employer dependent health care.
Shovel Face has the feel of a troll, to me. It'd be nice if a mod did an IP check -- it's probably someone else's account and is merely posting here for laughs.
Good call, new posters who head right to the D&D and start tossing bombs = reincarnated. Anybody seen Artesticle or Southern Select since August? No? Interesting....and guess who just registered in September......
You really aren't all that bright, are you? You must not know the history of employer sponsored health insurance in this country. Before WW2, very few people had insurance. My father can remember as a child the doc making house calls and taking payments over time. Enter the labor situation that accompanied WW2. With our nation at war, it was very difficult to find good workers, especially in those industries that were fueling the war effort. Because of that, wages were frozen so as to not harm industry during the war effort. With wages frozen, savvy employers started offering health benefits. Over time, it became the norm and devolved into the crap can we have today. Going from what is being proposed today to a health care system run completely by government is a quantum leap in logic. Your tin foil cap it on a little tight and the steel plate in your head is about 5 degrees off bubble.
Fox what did you do with Shepard Smith? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/phtG16FMK68&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/phtG16FMK68&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
North Dakota Dems Pass Resolution Backing Public Plan, Alert Sen. Conrad In a move that seems designed to push Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND) on health care reform, the North Dakota Democratic Party voted two weeks ago to make the public option for insurance coverage a stated objective of its platform.
Shepard has shown some independence from time to time. I remember around Katrina he made some statements that weren't necessarily particularly Fox News friendly.
Dude...it was World War II. Read a book. In fact, read several. You have a lot to learn. I simply cannot understand how one could second guess that idea when a good portion of what was the workforce was fighting in Europe and the Pacific. Things were bad...there was rationing because there was not enough to go around. What would you have had them do? And to try to tie it into a President that took office some 60 years later is, frankly, nuts. Enjoy the nutball Kool-Aid.
I don't want to start another health care thread (god forbid), so I'll put this here. Apparently, the "safeway amendment" is gaining traction (according to the NPR story I heard this morning). For those unawares, the safeway amendment is basically a "wellness incentive" type plan based off the one implemented by Safeway grocery stores, which gives discounts to healthier employees or those who become healthier. (lose weight or quit smoking, see your rates drop etc.) The above link is a long interview with their CEO - here are some excerpts: Anyhow, currently, these types of plans are capped at 20% discounts, but the Senate Finance Committee recently passed the "amendment" to make it as high as 50%. Numerous health groups are worried about this. But I’m not sure why. In the NPR story, they also interview the Safeway CEO, and he points out some statistics, like how his employees are generally healthier than the American average, and that ~80% rated the insurance plan “very good” or “excellent”. Moreover, he points out (as mentioned above if you skimmed it) that his health care costs have flat lined over the last four years. That’s amazing. One final point that I think is worth mentioning. The CEO also pointed out an apparent double standard in the American Cancer Society’s complaints. They are huge fans of cigarette taxes. How is that any different than the health incentive plans they decry above?
What can I second guess? Can I second guess citizens not being able to deduct health care / insurance costs? Two socialist administrations... it ties in nice nicely.
