LOL, you have totally lost it. :D

Everything you have just said can be contradicted and is diametrically opposed to the volumes and volumes of pointless bellowing (all proven wrong, sadly) you have output for us on this BBS on the board for years no matter how incongruous or contradictory. it's not even worth illustrating anymore.

But at least you support the troops all the way.

I will say it again war in a democracy is a political. I can believe the 56% of the poll but if I was a war supporter I wouldn't take it as heartening since not that long ago support for it was in the 70's%. The longer this conflict draws out the less support it will have. You are correct though that there is a core value to want to support the President in a time of war and in that sense this support is largely based on inertia of that value and even with that we are seeing it wearing thin.

I've seen this mentioned a few times but if you look at the history of the SE Asian conflicts we bear a lot of responsibility for what happened in Cambodia. Not by withdrawing but because we helped overthrow the monarchy since we didn't feel it was a reliable ally. Also if you remember your history it was the NVA that ended Pol Pot's reign of terror.

But what is not losing? According to the original goal of overthrowing Saddam we've won already. You're stuck in the realm of the nebulous where you can't even define the goals or the stakes. You're asking us to keep on fighting for the sake of fighting.

so per the military times poll 50% of the troops who have actually served in iraq and afghanistan are unpatriotic traitors?

since you ran away in your "unparalledled perfidy" thread i will repost the question to you again...

ill make it an easy one word answer for you - yes or no - do the 50% of troops who do not think we can win in iraq support the enemy?

    yes or no?

50% of the troops who have served in iraq and afghanistan do not think we can win? do you honestly believe that 50% of the troops who have served hate america and want the troops to fail?

50% of those polled say there is no chance for success in iraq.
only 35% approve of bush's handling of the war while 42% disapprove.
59% say it was a mistake to invade in the first place.

For someone who doesn't allow anyone to make comparisons to Vietnam and still discuss an issue with you, you sure make a lot of comparisons yourself.

Since YOUbrought up Vietnam, do you think that if the U.S. had only stayed 2 more years the outcome in Vietnam would have been different? Do you think Vietnam would have been better off today?

As far as good guys in Vietnam, we certainly weren't helping to fight for them. They guys we were helping and wanted to keep in power were corrupt, brutal, dictators who thrived by oppressing others. The Communists murdered and took bloody revenge on those that fought against them. They also opposed free speech, so it isn't as if they were much better. It was a war that wasn't necessary and had we won, Vietnam might be worse off today.

It appears in your view that debate is fine as long as in the end everyone agrees that Iraq is a great idea and something we should keep doing even though we aren't winning, and aren't fixing the mistakes that have been made, or holding those accountable who made them.

Murtha, who has more friends and connection in the military than either you, I, or GW Bush, seems to be acting in agreement of much our military. Remember Murtha was originally in favor of the war, but he woke up.

Again, using our freedoms, and debating, and disagreeing only strengthens democracy. It doesn't weaken it.

As for working toward the goals of our enemies... I will point out to you for nearly the tenth time. Al Qaeda wants the U.S. to stay in Iraq. By arguing for that yourself, it is you who is campaigning for the same goals as our enemy.

here's some more insight from the poll:

Question #5 And, which of the following would do most to hurt America's reputation as a world power:

To pull our troops out of Iraq immediately 59%
To leave our troops in Iraq for as long as it takes to restore order 35%

Question #9 I support finishing the job in Iraq, that is, keeping the troops there until the Iraqi government can maintain control and provide security for its people.
    57% Agree
    41% Disagree

Question #12 Victory in Iraq, that is creating a young but stable democracy and reducing the threat of terrorism at home, is no longer possible for the U.S.
    53% Disagree
    43% Agree

Question #15 I don't really care about what happens in Iraq after the U.S. leaves, I just want the troops brought home.
    25% Agree
    74% Disagree

provided the country had the will to win, and was committed to projecting that will in vietnam, yes. what's striking now, is the extent to which the anti-war left seems determined to undermine that will. one my ask: "why?"

you're the one who wants americans and muslims to die and be maimed in massive numbers.

People ask "why?" and the only thing you can come up with is "not losing"

You sound like a sociopath to me.

huh? are you suggesting a US "redeployment" result in a new iraqi era of peace love and understanding, rather than a kosovo, or worse, cambodian, style descent into murder, mayhem, and ethnic-cleansing?

But that's precisely what YOU and the moron-eo-cons suggested 4 years ago.

Look where it got us, murder mayhem and ethnic cleansing. Thanks for that. Your track record on this issue is a joke.

You're like the Hindenberg designer telling us that hydrogen fueled dirigibles are the wave of the future because fixed wing aircraft might cause fiery crashes....four years after the crash of the Hindenberg.

that question is worded odd. i would vote disagree on that even though i want the troops brought home b/c i DO care about what happens in iraq. i wonder how that would breakdown if the question left out the "i dont care about what happens in iraq" part. only people like bill o'reilly dont care about what happens in iraq and what happens to the iraqi people.

basso, since you are such a fan of polls, here is another poll w/ a more directly asked question regarding bringing the troops home.
    http://www.pollingreport.com/iraq.htm
CBS News Poll. Feb. 8-11, 2007. N=1,142 adults nationwide.

    and furthermore...

it appears that about 90% of americans disagree with the bush administrations claim of a "unitary executive". at least most of us were paying attention in high school government (seperate, but equal anyone?)

"When deciding what to do about Iraq, how much do you think the Bush Administration should take into account the views of Congress: a lot, some, not much or not at all?"

A Lot Some Not Much Not at All Unsure

    2/8-11/07 51 42 3 3 1

"How would you say things are going for the U.S. in its efforts to bring stability and order to Iraq? Would you say things are going very well, somewhat well, somewhat badly, or very badly?"

"Which concerns you more -- that the U.S. will leave Iraq before a stable democracy is in place, OR, that the U.S. will wait too long to withdraw its troops from Iraq?" Options rotated

again basso, you are welcome to your opinion, but just realize that in pretty much all issues you and torture-boy bush are going against the will of the american people. who are the traitors again?

    you did not answer.

anyway, it takes less words to type "yes" or "no" than "asked and answered", why dont you just answer (for once).

if you are too lazy to type "yes" or "no" could you at least provide a link to where you did answer?
