The point is that even though it's a Class C Misdemeanor (essentially a speeding ticket), I want it off my record because it looks a lot worse than speeding and could affect future employment prospects.
Yes, this. Speaking of, does anyone know if you can get a copy of a mugshot and how one might do such a thing? Are they public record?
I haven't seen it clearly stated in the thread, but were you intoxicated? In public? Hence, the name of the offense.
Doesn't seem that way from what I've read. I haven't applied for a job in three years. Does it say "Have you ever been convicted of a felony?" or "a crime"? I certainly would've stayed there the extra few hours had I known I wouldn't have to pay a fine, but how the hell was I to know that?
Did they make you take the breathalyzer? Are you a minority? How did they know you had alcohol? I know here in Canada cops like to give out this stupid offenses because they will get paid for the time off to show up in court.
He may have been, but he was making the better decision by walking instead of driving. Drinking a few at your house and then walking outside is the same thing. Now, if he was falling into the street, that's a different story. I don't believe he was. Citizens > Cops
No breath test, and I'm white. I really think it was walking through that lot that made him confront me. Once, I was waiting there in the shade for my girlfriend before an Astros game, and a cop pulled up to ask who I was waiting for.
this. from experience I got a PI during spring break (college). I've worked for two companies since i got out and it was never brought up. If your future employer cares that much about a PI you may not want to work there.
Okay, thanks for the advice guys. I may have been more worried than necessary. Sounds like I should be able to get it dismissed myself.
I just realized I was hauled in because my driver's license says I live 20 miles from my current address, so I'll get that fixed and hopefully be golden.
