Maybe some people think he is taking away some spot light from Yao. But if Yao started to become a monster on rebounding and blocking shots then he would instantly be one of the most feared centers in the league. And we all know the big men get all the attention.
I am very happy we got Syrup. :) Even though he was on a crappy team last year he put up some sick numbers in the second have of the season. And he did it against NBA defenses. The dude can ball. I'm goanna have to get a Sura jersey.

Gotcha. I misunderstood what you meant by 'poor man', usually not a positive.

And DaDakota's right too. Junkyard dog's D was awesome in its prime. Mario prob could have scored a lot more if he wasn't busy shuttin' people down.

As you can see from this thread there are a lot of us who do not think he is selfish. I just don't like all the bashing he gets. I don't feel its warranted for a guy who plays as hard as he does on a bad knee.

i'm chinese australian, but i dont agree with all these YOF idiots. they don't make any sense to me. as far as i'm concerned we should all put them on the ignore list, because truthfully i'm sick of their nonsense.

i'm drunk and when i'm drunk i tell the truth...

I don't think this is bashing. everybody plays hard in this team. Yao got flu before Cleveland game, and he played hard also.
The point I want to make here is: Sura should find the right position for himself. that's it

The guy who provides a spark ... and leadership ... to a team that has a tendency to fall asleep on the court is more than just a role player, he's critical. I would have to agree with the TNT talking heads on this one: Yao and TMac don't provide the fire ... yet. Though we can overcome not having specific role players (e.g. a bruising rebounder), Sura's play was pivotal in many wins this year.

That's the problem. Tmac should be the leader for this team.

actuelly calling a player "selfish" is a form of "bashing"

I love Yao, but didn't he take a game off during his flu. Not to say he didn't need to.

I guess 9 assists is not enough...? GO SURA!!!!! I love this guy. He plays hard, gets on the floor, hell, he even gets T's and gets in people's faces (Steve Franics:D ). I love the emotion he brings. He is similar to Mario Elie. Every team needs a player like him.

This board is incredible. An soon as any issue is being discussed, things like YOF are thrown around.

I like Sura in general. I'm not enamored with his PH skill. I'd rather someone like Tinsley at PG, but I love his energy and competitiveness.

But let's face it. The guy has limitations, and he is hampered by his injury. He sometimes makes mistakes, and that put the Rockets win in danger. Like yesterday, sometime in the 4th, maybe his leg is dead, he doesn't get the team into early offense, he doesn't pass the ball early, the rockets offense thus is in stagnent.

He's got like 9 assists, good. But if he played smarter in the 4th, he should get more assists if he could get Rockets into early offense, with the way guys has been playing. I critisized him then, (check it out, it's in the game thread). But that doesn't mean I hate him.

    OK, my last one:

for sura, there still arguable that he is self-fish or lack of ability.
As I said, Tmac should be the leader and plus Yao they are #1s on the court. And yao need a good entry passer (YOF again?)

for Rox, this season is over. They can make it to the playoff, but only 6th-8 seed, that's it. I already see Tmac can do anything, and he will be a solid superstar and yao can be a solid all-star. their prime should be in 3-5 yrs and most of current role plays won't stay.

Well, if TNT said it...

He's a guy playing out of position, and he's doing a pretty impressive job of it. He's shooting right around 45% from the field, and considering the horrible shooting he started off with, that's very good.

He thinks he's a star? The guy is on the floor every night getting scrapes, despite the fact by many accounts he probably shouldn't even be dressing for games. He's certainly a little more than a role player- role players don't score 35 points in a game, and don't nearly drop triple doubles. He's a great piece to surround Yao/TMac.

The fact is, the knock on him early in the season was his perimeter shooting, which lately has been rock solid. I haven't seen him miss many opportunities to get Yao the ball.

Put it this way- the list of PGs Yao has played is currently at Steve Francis, Moochie Norris, Mike Wilks, Charlie Ward, Tyronn Lue, Andre Barrett, and Bob Sura, with your Rod Stricklands, Mark Jacksons, and Tito Maddoxes, and Jon Barry as well. Which of those guys has gotten Yao the ball where Sura hasn't??

I think Sura, Wes and Barry bring more heart and quickness into this team, which was sorely lacking earlier this season.
My only concern about Sura is that his leg will fall off and we won't be able to save enough of him for the playoffs or next season. However, since we really have no other options, we have to do what we can.
He has shown that he is a very dependable third option, over the summer I thought he was a good acquisition but that he'd probably never get another triple double on this team again; almost ate my words last night (although I was cheering for that last assist).

I didn't know there were any Sura bashers...did he take the place of JJ after the trade? the first one i've seen is this Zhao dude. This thread looked more like a China-fan bashing thread than one about defending Sura, I really don't see that much criticism against Bob going around here, other than the generally commonplace poop throwing.

I don't agree with some of the stuff you posted in this thread, and you are getting flamed for most of it, but I have to agree with this sentiment.

I like the energy that Sura brings, but I'd prefer someone else at pg - in the future. Right now we don't have much choice. Ideally, I'd rather have Sura come off the bench and backup the 2,3 and 1 for around 30mpg.
