    "New game media"?

I hate how Sony must always push some new media/memory format.

Hopefully they learned with the PSP GO that an arbitrary and unnecessarily high price point will flop. The 3ds is 320+ (at least in UK pricing) so its possible that sony marks up 50-100$ above that like with the psp and the nds.

Between the 3ds, psp2 and all the good games coming out this year, it looks like gamers will be as broke as ever.

Can they put the Elder Scrolls games on there?

I would be tempted if I could play Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim...

Hehe...I wouldn't doubt it if it was December 2011. Only for Japan.

Like March 2012 for NA, and maybe end of the world for Europe...I mean end of 2012.

(maybe not, but I wouldn't get too excited).
Basically just saying they're using flash based memory cards to distribute games. Not really that big of a deal I think (not like they'll be putting out music, movies, etc., on it too...at least I hope not). Probably eventually going to want to have users download directly from PSN over time anyway.

    Why not? Certainly powerful enough.

Looks more powerful than I expected, although I was assuming they would maybe be a bit more aggressive on pricing/battery/etc. Maybe they still will, but I can't imagine this being cheap. Pretty interesting combination of features, though it remains to be seen how it will all play out in the end.

PS Suite sounds maybe even more interesting than the NGP:

Shows some of the games. Uncharted looks nice.

The most important thing is, they FINALLY got a clue and put two analog sticks. That one thing will make this a major major improvement. FPS's will now be actually playable. I don't understand why they didn't make it with two to begin with. Crazy.

I don't see how this thing can ever be a huge hit. It will probably sell well in niche circles to Sony fanboys, but for the masses, the iPhone has taken over as the go-to gaming device. For the kids, it's the Nintendo DS.

If Sony would make this thing a phone/gaming device, then they would probably have a slam dunk.

The only upside I see is that it has over the iPhone is controls. I can't stand action games with a touchscreen and the overlaid controls.

queue CowboyBebop trolling the iPhone in 3....2....1....

Nice specs, but Sony not telling the price yet is concerning. If they can stay close to the 3DS price, it's a win. But I really would be surprised by that.

If they price this thing too high, it's like they learned nothing from the PS3 screwups.

Especially considering the 3DS is going to be $250. They have a chance to be competitive with Nintendo on price, but with probably better tech. Now...I don't know. Hopefully this thing really is 'affordable'.

Really though, these handhelds are getting too expensive. Now with smartphones capable of so much, they are both really testing to see how much people are willing to spend on a portable video game system.

Eh...no one talked about it, but it has 3G. 3G is going to eat a ton of juice...so I hope they have a good battery inside.

I wonder if it'll be a strong selling point when you can play MH3 (Jap) or COD6 (USA) anywhere you go?

There's a plethora of feature (rear touch pad, six axis, move gyro/acel built inside) I'm not sure was necessary...but all it takes is one killer app to get the ball rolling.

    Price wise, I think they'll release a version w/o 3G w/smaller internal memory and a model w/ 3G w/larger internal memory.

    w/o = $249-$299
    w/3G = $299-$349

Really though...over $300 is suicide imo.

God you need to STFU. People don't buy the iPhone for gaming. 90% of the games on the iPhone are pure **** for touchscreen. Do your research before yapping.

As for this PSP2 device I think it packed a wicked hardware but little gadget hand held console isn't for me. Small screen console like these are limited to a certain type of games which are meant to be play on larger screen.

If that thing is capable of PS3 type graphics it would be nice if they had a HDMI output. Then you can play on the larger screens. Not sure if its powerful enough to output at 1080P though.

Uncharted looks great but I don't see getting any practical use out of it because I'm not a 13 year old boy. I rarely use my PS3 as is, and even then, it's primarily a Netflix and Blu-Ray machine for me. This thing is likely to flop like the first PSP.
