[PSA] PSA "Texting while Driving" by Peter Watkins-Hughes

After the crash the bus driver was more worried about where his cellphone went to instead of checking to see if anyone was hurt.

 

Precisely, they should ban cell phone use by drivers on a running vehicle. I've seen so many drivers driving in 2 lanes, making too wide of a turn, and going out of turn at stop signs in the past year. Every single one of them were on the damn phone.

I call BS to anyone that says they are not distracted when they are using the cell.

 

I've seen much, much worse from NOLA cops.

The idea of telling people what to do or enforcing rules that limit someone's ability to live the life they choose is abhorrent to me.

But you know what's more abhorrent to my core? Inconsiderate people. The type of people that think it's OK to only think of themselves -- be it chatting on a cell phone, refusing to use turn signals/indicators, or not looking out to help those around them (maybe pull up to the car in front of you at the light, because if you move up, the car in back of you can move up, and the person trying to squeeze in the right hand turn lane a few cars back can move into it and go) -- while they're on the road with dozens or hundreds of other people.

I don't care how good you are, don't do it.

 

Anyone else waiting, in the last seconds of the PSA, for the pilot of the second helicopter to also have been texting while flying? I'm thinking he was looking up box scores, or telling his wife he'd be late for date night 'cause some idiot tween was texting while driving, then WHAM!

What that PSA was missing, to really drive the point home, was some helicopter-on-helicopter crash action.

Also similarly lethal: rocking out to obscure 60s pop bands that Pete Townshend almost quit The Who to join.
