sorry, I meant "persons with a penis"

    http://www.wnem.com/story/28278233/planet-fitness-drops-member-after-gender-identity-complaint

The woman is exactly right. Planet Fitness needs to inform their members that people with penises are allowed to come into the women's locker room.

    Planet Fitness is so lame.
I'd consider walking in there buying a day pass and just screwing around and tormenting the staff.

I thought it was a satire sketch when I first heard of them, nope just a gym ran by a bunch of p*****s.

Complaining about a man, who unbeknownst to her is transgender, entering the ladies locker room is bad?

what is there to debate here?

    1) that America is so behind on trans rights that a shockingly high amount of transsexuals would rather kill themselves than live there, and a bunch have been brutally murdered by their own families for being trans? That trans people have to view going to the bathroom as a situation where they might threaten themselves and others because there has never been an enlightened discussion about transsexualism in a nation that prides itself on being a stalwart of human rights?

Even Iran is more progressive about this issue. For shame.

    http://www.theguardian.com/world/20...n-transgender-teen-suicide-conversion-therapy

    2) that a business has a wacky no-judgement policy that kicked in here (lol)

Aren't you usually on the side of businesses that have discretion to impose arbitrary (ex: religious) requirements on their customers and employees Commodore? Free market and all.

    3) that you have an incomplete view on human sexuality

Transsexualism is an accepted and healthy part of human sexuality for many medical professionals.

    http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/769310

    4) that men scare woman to an extreme because they commit a disproportionate amount of sexual violence

What can be done about this? I wonder if that was the focus of your thread. It would be interesting to discuss this.

Giving away free pizza at Planet Fitness is more egregious than a mixed gender person entering a confused locker room. Plus I don't think anyone at Planet Fitness even lifts brah?

Lol at Iran being more progressive.

Do they even allow non-Muslim straight males into their gyms?

    Wait, do they even lift?

Basically you can say you're a woman, put on a wig (hell who knows if you even need to dress up), and have free access to female locker rooms.

If you think that's a sound policy, fine, but your female patrons need to know that.

    never stated otherwise

oh, yes. Transsexual people risk getting stabbed by their own family, kill themselves at incredible rates, and live through incredible stigma and poverty so they can burst into woman's bathrooms or so heterosexual men would have the idea to do so, not because they need to perform bodily functions, but because they just want to get some of that pansexual goodness in.

Statistically it is THE best way to get laid I suppose, or to get slapped with a lawsuit.

if on the other hand your argument is that Planet Fitness is an incompetent business with funny rules and shi**y communication that you're perfectly fine with them enforcing in their own f**ked up way, I'm not 100% sure why you want to debate and discuss this.

    Lol. So gullible.

    Present day[edit]
Khomeini's original fatwa has since been reconfirmed by the current leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, and is also supported by many other Iranian clerics.[1] However, there is still a great deal of stigma attached to the idea of transsexualism and gender reassignment in ordinary Iranian society, and most transsexuals, after completing their transition, are advised to maintain discretion about their past.[1] Once a transsexual individual has undergone sex reassignment, that person legally becomes the new sex. All legal documents, such as birth certificates and passports, are also changed accordingly.[1]

Hojatoleslam Kariminia, a mid-level cleric who is in favor of transsexual rights, has stated that he wishes "to suggest that the right of transsexuals to change their gender is a human right" and that he is attempting to "introduce transsexuals to the people through my work and in fact remove the stigma or the insults that is attach to these people."[2]

UNHCR's 2001 report says that sex reassignment surgery is performed frequently and openly in Iran, and that homosexual and cross-dressing people, although unrelated to transsexualism, would be safe as long as they keep a low profile.[3]However, the Safra Project's 2004 report considers UNHCR's report over-optimistic. The Safra Project's report suggests that UNHCR underestimated legal pressure over transsexual and LGBT matters.[citation needed]

The report further states that currently, it is not possible for presumed transsexual individuals to choose not to undergo surgery - if they are approved for sex reassignment, they are expected to undergo treatment immediately. Those who wish to remain "non-operative" (as well as those who cross-dress and/or identify as genderqueer) are considered their biological gender, and as such they are likely to face harassment as being homosexuals and subject to the same laws barring homosexual acts.[4]

    lol indeed.

And let's not go into how women are treated. So if you do change into a woman, you won't be allowed to a stadium, so probably not a gym either.

Iran's "progressive" policy seems more to be their method to address homosexuality.

Sorry, just because a dude likes other dudes doesn't mean he should have been born with a vagina

Does that stigma come with brutal misreported murders from family members, and 10x the average suicide rate?

Again, an Iranian cleric (of all people) is out-progressing you. Be more selective with your copy + pastes ;)

do you mean the approved medical treatment by the APA?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_identity_disorder

it's actually hilarious to see Iran's POS LGB(but hey not T)-hating regime in many ways be more progressive on this particular issue than America. Shows how behind America is on trans rights.

    This is a tough one.

I am not sure a transgender person who hasn't undergone any kind of modification should be allowed into a woman's locker room.
