I concur, this is absolutely the best time to jump in if you haven't played it before. It is Bungie's best interest to make it that way (new users = more money and more user activity). They also made most of the old weapons obsolete, so not having the old exotic weapons isn't really a big deal at all. I'd certainly recommend getting the game now for the first time, as well as recommend the game in general.
Hahaha just like "We woken the hive" a year ago.. Poor Draksis I must have killed him 30 times or so. I was getting about a 25% drop unfortunately got repeated stuff and mainly year one stuff. Just farmed and got a coupe more exotics. Still want that damn new fusion rifle. But for folks who are wondering if this is the best time to come to the game, YES. The first year was pretty bad, only reason I kept playing because I had a group of friends who were active.

So I enjoyed the 17GB download when I put the game in last night! Took a good 6 hours to complete. I'll be getting my first taste tonight straight after I get home. Any tips on what I should do?
I'm not sure if have read about the shard that bumps you up to level 25 right away. If you don't want to do the grinding to get leveled up, you can use that to start doing fun stuff right away. It doesn't take too long to get there on your own, probably a solid 8 hours. As far as the character, lots of people have all 3. I use my Titan the most, but Hunters are awesome as well. I personally feel like Titans are the best way to go. You start off with 2 options for your skill set and special. 1 subclass' special is a Hulk Smash on the ground that wipes away anyone within 5-10 feet of you. The other subclass' special is a protective bubble that you and your friends can hide in for about 30 seconds. Are there any specific questions you have about the game? Just finished that... pain in the ass. Need the right group. I did it with a Sunbreaker Titan, Defender Titan (Weapons of light helped greatly), and me the Stormcaller. We made it into his room at 7 min on the DOT. Finished at 1M left.
Welp, no Black Hammer reincarnation for me then. I think I'm barely 210 light, not sure if you have to be 240 and up to do this mission or not. Even if I can, I would be a liability to anyone who helps me. Hopefully Xur sells it eventually.
I'm sure the quest will be available again. (If you can't do it within the confines of the regular heroic version of the mission...I've read reports that you can) Unfortunately at your light level, you won't even be able to load the mission. It's 280 recommended, and honestly I don't know how people under 290 are even finishing this.
