1. he shouldn't have revealed that he has $2000 to blow on a game system. this qualifies as CHEAPSKATE ALERT if he doesn't buy the TV. 2. I totally agree, if you can't play it on your TV, buy a VGA adapter and play on a monitor. 3. Walmart has a 22inch Vizio with PC inputs for $347 http://www.vizio.com/products/detail.aspx?pid=60 They didn't spend millions of dollars to make Metal Gear Solid or those stupid Final Fantasy games for PS3 to be played on a crap SDTV. might as well go buy yourself a 1 megapixel camera and tell your friends how good the pictures look!
actually, SF2HD looks like a completely new game, its so much cleaner. you'll be surprised how much better it is. but i guess you PS3ers have to wait! since when does POOR COLLEGE STUDENT and $500 GAME SYSTEMS belong together?
IMO There is really only question to be answered: Do you play Metal Gear Solid or have any interest in playing the new one? If the answer is yes, then get a PS3 If no, then get a 360
You already want to play a game that hasn't even been announced but just referenced due to it being registered by the US Patent Office? Spoiler Who am I kidding...I bet it will still be out before FF13. I actually wonder who would work on the game. It seems like Naughty Dog is leaning towards making a sequel to Uncharted, and I'm not sure they can work on two games at once. I guess Ready at Dawn could develop it.
I was reading an interview with Evan Wells, and he all but said they were going to make a new one on the PS3. I saw some video earlier today, and I can't tell if it's a rough demo scene from a new game or unreleased footage from a previous game. Plus it just makes sense for them to make a new Jak game. I'd love to see that with the Uncharted engine. I'm betting on a surprise E3 announcement. Maybe Naughty Dog will staff up like Insomniac Games (Resistance and Ratchet & Clank). I definitely see them making an Uncharted sequel as well. By the way Insomniac just opened a new office in Raleigh and are apparently looking at cooking up yet another IP. Now if Sucker Punch will just put out another Sly Cooper game after inFAMOUS...
Yeah, I think they'll do a new Jak game eventually, I just don't know if they'll do it before another Uncharted game. In the article you posted, Evan Wells even mentions that he would prefer that the team focuses on one project at a time. As much as they've hinted at a new Jak game, I think they've hinted more about a sequel to Uncharted. I assumed they would take an approach similar to Insomniac like you mentioned, but it seems like they want to keep the "small" company feel. That, or Sony is busy pumping millions into Killzone 2 instead of investing back into some of their more reliable studios. Like you said, maybe we'll find out at E3. Of course, your post just reminded me that I have no idea what 50% of Sony's internal studios are working on. Spoiler Well, I guess I know they're not working on The Getaway and 8 Days.
I have BOTH so I have a pretty objective opinion its not even close imo. I never touch my PS#, i even bought GTA4 for it to get me to play iy more but i cant. I dont particvularly know why, i just dont like it at all. I LOVE my 360
I loved the GETAWAY! I have both versions on PS2. I was really looking forward to the PS3 version. Is it true they stop working on it because they felt it wasn't suited for online play? btw Sly Cooper rocks too.
I think they canceled it because it played like Alone in the Dark...I need to stop stealing jokes from NeoGAF. After 2-3 years, the game was still in pre-production, so they probably just decided it would be better to spend their resources on other projects. It isn't like the studios in Europe don't enough of a workload as it is. I bet their studio in Cambridge can't even make a game since they're too busy making sure everyone can get pretty graphics on the PS3.
whats this neogaf youre always talking about? some forum? lol i cant believe wack ass games like Sonic (which i unfortunately own) get released but The Getaway doesnt. That game had an awesome story line (original one) i remember playing the first demo, when they used to send out demos through playstation magazine lol my ps fanboy days go way back since i first layed my eyes on the PSone
Yeah, it is a forum: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=2 I like to think of it as the ClutchFans for video games. Sonic probably cost a few million to make and would sell plenty of copies based just on the name alone. The Getaway would probably cost $20M+ (and that's being somewhat conservative), and it could struggle to make a profit (especially since the 1st two games weren't met with much praise). Maybe they'll revisit it again someday, but it is understandable why they didn't give it the greenlight. Of course, they really should not have promoted the game like it was a sure thing. Stuff like that is one of my pet peeves with games this generation.
hah sonic adventure for the ps3 was an epic failure. its horrible, then again i got it for $20 ima sign up for neogaf
My HDTV gets a hell of a lot more use than my PS3. For the few of you that don't understand why we are stressing to get an HDTV first....well, I guess that's because you've never experienced the joys of an HDTV. I just don't get why anyone that can afford a next-gen console wouldn't get an HDTV.
Geez, you got ripped off. I don't think I'd take that game if someone gave me $20. FWIW, unless things changed, there is like a 6 month wait period (or something like that) before you get your membership approved at NeoGAF.
I understand what you're saying, but when I plug MGS4 into an SDTV I'm still playing a game with the best graphics I've seen in my entire life. Though HDTV will make it even better, it's not like we're messing around with pixelated PS1 graphics here. Though I'm anxious to unleash the full capabilities of the PS3 with HD, I'm still playing some of the most visually stunning games I've ever played, HD or not.
hah, i bought it a while back when i first got my PS3. I was low on cash and wanted a game, and ive been a sonic fan since i was a little kid, so i thought it was an awesome deal. Horrible gameplay. I heard the 360 version was just as bad. Oh man thats a long wait, and according to their TOS, I need an e-mail thats not free like gmail or hotmail... crap, i forgot that email address comcast gave me. (off topic) AHHHHH **** EA!! and HARMONIX those money hungry bastards want to release details about RockBand 2 when I just got Rockband a few months ago.
if you can afford the freaking ps3 and $60 games, you can easily afford a hdtv. or for god's sake, buy a freaking vga cable and play it on your monitor. I like my camera phone but i know the 10 megapixel camera is alot nicer. l
i'm so tempted in started another CHEAPSKATE THREAD. if you are a poor college student with $2000 cash to buy a game system or if you claim to be a poor college student and have a PS3 and bunch of games, I hope some REAL poor college kids rob your ass.
Actually, I can't afford an HDTV right now. I made a judgment call to budget and save up enough money to afford the PS3 in the first place. And I'd rather play PS3 on a big screen SDTV instead of a 15" laptop monitor so that I can sit further than 3 feet back from the screen. If I had $2000 to blow like the OP and was in the market for a videogame console, I'd strongly consider buying an HDTV, but then again I still want to buy a motorcycle, new laptop, and there is always the issue of my massive student debt... Shall I put my PS3 away in storage until I can afford an HDTV? Or maybe just sell it and use the proceeds to put toward an HDTV?
