Haha... silly man. Pre-ordering has got to be among the sadest scams around. Like you'll never be able to get a PS3 unless you pre-order... gimme a break. They do it with games "Pre-Order Legend of the Walrus Eaters 5 NOW!! For only $10!" What makes this even funnier is that you can pre-order and still not get the thing.
I don't know, I would say this would still be difficult. Camping out for a limited number of systems is really your only other option (if you want it at launch). Getting an early preorder seems the safest bet for a launch system (without having to pay ebay prices)
On kind of a sidenote certain Best Buy stores will be selling the PS3 at midnight in bulk. One of these stores is in "Galleria, TX". Is that Houston?
Got my cancellation email, but the order is still "inprocess" Heh, too bad the 10 dollar coupon I got is pretty useless considering the game I want to get is still not listed as part of the deal I wanted to do. (Buy 2 get 1 Free on Touch Generation DS games, Elite Beat Agents isn't part of the deal at this point online, although it should be)
Sure, if you "gotta have it now". It's that mentality that makes people do nutty things and pay outrageous prices for these things. It's buying into the hype. I'll be getting one whenever I can walk into a store without getting mugged by others wanting to get their hands on one. lol.
I'm aware of that. That's why I was disagreeing with DoD in that preordering - provided you got in early - is pretty much one of the few 'strong' chances of getting a launch system. DoD, you're right - if you don't want to get one at launch. But if you do, then preordering is among the viable options.
I think some select stores (Circuit City IIRC) are getting like 100 of them, although they really are "select." I think just a few of them around the country, like in NY, LA, etc. I don't think any of them were in Texas...I'd probably remember more about the details if there was one in Texas. If I'm not mistaken, Wal-mart expects to have a minimum of 10 systems per store. Of course, I guess what these stores expect to get and what they actually have on launch day could be 2 different things. Still, I'd probably stick in line at most places if I was in the top 10 or so (especially if it was at a major retailer in Houston or some other large city).
if you guys are lucky...maybe...just maaaaaaaaaaybe two of you will get your hands on one... good luck!
So when they launch on the 17th, is it in the morning of the 17th, as in when stores open? What time do folks usually start camping out, and do they only allow you to buy 1 system? If they allow you to buy more than 1 then I might take vacation and just camp out.
Usually on the morning of the 17th (when stores open), although some stores will have special midnight launches. I guess some stores are also open 24/7 (Wal-mart), and I think they'll start selling them at midnight (not sure though...maybe more like 6-8 AM). It depends on the store on if there is a limit, but I think most (if not all) will have a limit of 1 per customer. Not sure when most people start camping out, but I wouldn't doubt it if there were lines forming 12-24 hours before a stores opens. Maybe even sooner than that.
I'd imagine major retailers like bestbuy, walmart, circuitcity, and target will launch them at midnight...
The question still remains... Do I stay in College Station where the volume is low but the lines (hopefully) will be managable. Or attack Houston where the lines will be nuts but volume may be high?
