Best Buy isn't going to ship orders when there'll be people camping out their doorsteps waiting to buy one of these. There could be one or two lucky sobs, but keep in mind that these things are way limited.

Ya'll are funny...I should camp out just to make money, but won't...They'll be plenty of people to do that...Just out of curiosity, typically don't teh first batch of consoles have problems (ie. 360)...I know it'll be cool to be the first to have one, but wouldn't it be better to wait? what the hell do I know...
It would be great if eBay/Paypal/Sony/retailers/etc screwed over everyone who tries to sell them by canceling orders or something like that...I know that it would be wrong from a consumer POV (going against the right to sell things you own), but it would be really funny. As for the BB preorders, I know some have been canceled while others (as of this morning) still aren't canceled. Perhaps BB might ship out as many PS3s as they have to the people that ordered first, as well as those who didn't order multiple systems (they had to sell them some time). Apparently, someone from the CAG forums got "official" word that this is legit, and I guess since some orders are still good, that might be true. However, given how everyone is saying something different, I still wouldn't doubt it if they canceled all the orders (maybe by today or tomorrow). Maybe not though.
if i had the money for it right now, i'd buy a few of them then sell them on ebay for twice the asking price.

Unannounced preorders are probably better, at least for online sites. If they announce a day and time when they'll be taking preorders, the site will be hit hard when that time comes. I think circuitcity.com did this last year with the 360, and I'm sure some of the BBS members remember how that turned out. If not, I think a few of the pages in the 360 launch thread are able to explain how it went down. Speaking of which, I guess I need to get started on the launch threads for the PS3 and Wii, especially since the PS3 will be released by the end of the week (in Japan anyway). As with the 360 thread, we might be able to help each other out in finding places that will be selling the systems...although since it seems like most people just want to sell them, I might be less inclined to spread any useful info. BTW, the last word I got about the BB preorders is that some guy named Tony (some specialist at BB that you can call) is saying that they will all be canceled. I hate how long it takes to get a firm idea on how retailers will react to something like this. I guess it doesn't help that this occurred during the weekend, and it wasn't until today that BB could address the situation (not at work during the weekend).
As an aside, last week, my brother got to play the PS3 in NYC (Sony had a storefront or something with PS3 demos). He said the graphics were unbelievable, but overall, he wasn't that impressed with the system. Apparently, none of the games he played had any motion-sensing ability, either.
I just wanna buy one, not intrested in selling it. That being said I'm in Dallas so I'm sure most of the info wouldn't even help me to begin with. Does anyone know if warehouse stores like Costco and Sams are going to get any PS3?

I'm assuming he went to this event? http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/01/playstation-3-gameplay-preview/ Not sure what games he played, but COD3, Resistance, NBA 2K7, NBA 07, Lair, Tony Hawk's Project 8, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and I think MotorStorm (not sure if they've put it in any playable builds yet) have implemented motion-sensing into their games, and I think all of those games were at the event (and maybe some others, like Madden 07 and Tiger Woods PGA 07, both of which use the SIXAXIS functionality as well). Maybe they were older builds , or maybe he never needed to use it. While all those games support it, only a few of those games really require the player to use it (like Lair). Out of the games that I know were there, I think Genji, Gundam, Untold Legends, and Full Auto 2 (which I believe did support motion-sensing at one time, but recently dropped it) didn't support any sort of motion-sensing. I think there was a hockey game there too, although I have no what it supported (not even sure what hockey game it was). Of course, I just found out recently that Ridge Racer 7 supports motion-sensing, which I don't believe was known previously. So maybe some of those games will add it before launch...except for Gundam (I think Namco-Bandai is holding off on using it for now). Since you mentioned it, I'll try to find any info I can about stores in Dallas from other boards and post that in the thread if I remember (guessing you're not the only one here that lives in Dallas). As usual, I'll also try to stay on top of any online sites offering preorders. AFAIK, EB Games and Gamestop haven't started taking online preorders, and there are a few other sites that usually take online preorders that haven't done so yet either (including Best Buy, once they do this over again I guess). Some/most of those will be bundles though I imagine, but if you really want one, that might not be a problem for you (especially if a bundle includes things you were planning on getting anyway). Not sure if Costco or Sams will be getting any. I think both of them had 360s last year, although I'm not positive.
