The only limitations is that the bigger capacity drives are 12.5mm thick, while the ps3 accepts only the 9.5mm ones. The OEM drive in mine was a seagate 5400 rpm, which is usually the standard speed in laptops.

That's probably the hardest one in the b license, a lot of people gold it drifting through, but one solid brake and then going light on the throttle will get it for you. IC-10 like CCR's been saying is hell on wheels. Aggressive opponents, narrow track will give you nightmares even if you've golded all the other trials.

    Anybody still playing this?

I never really stopped, but I've been going at it particularly hard the past few weeks and I'm trying to get to 100% complete.

I have gold on every A-Spec event up to and including the first endurance race, and I have gold on every B-Spec event up to the 24-Hour LeMans races (my B-Spec drivers are currently on hour 13 of the first of two races).

I just won the Red Bull X2010 and it is ridiculous.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever realistically get to 100% complete. There are two 24-Hour LeMans races in both A-Spec and B-Spec, and they are available at levels 35 and 40, respectively. Problem is, you have to run the level 35 race ELEVEN times to get up to level 40, and then you still have to run that level 40 race too. Between A and B-Spec, that's 24 races for a total of 576 hours. Not as much of an issue for B-Spec since you can leave it running and walk away (though it still occupies your PS3), but for A-Spec it's absolute murder.

    Murder.

I know I will never get the "all gold" trophy no matter how much time I play. I'll never be that good...

I tried getting all gold on the license tests, but there are a few where no matter how hard I try I always come up a few tenths of a second short of gold. I started getting really frustrated so I quit.

I haven't played since the PSN outage, but I was hooked on seasonal races.

I finally decided to get a wheel after trying out driving on a $7,500 D-box chair with hydraulics at the hardocp gaming event (videos not me, didn't take a video of myself, but did drive that thing and it was fun as heck).

I'm still not going to be a huge sim driver but I'm thinking of getting a wheel. I've decided on the driving force GT as most places say it's the best bang for the buck, especially if you're a beginner, but I want to ask clutchfans what is what am I giving up buy not buying the G27 that I would really want?

Info. Not a big clutch driver, don't mind not having a leather wheel and metal brakes/accelerator.

Driving force GT is only $104 vs. $233 of G27.

I didn't receive it, but Logitech has sent two batches of 50% off coupons which should include the g27. I've debated buying a coupon on ebay for around 20$, but I'm still deciding between the g27 and a fanatec wheel.

Why not? Having a racing wheel and pedals is all about better control, and a clutch only adds to that.

I suck at clutch lol... don't need to realistic, just like franchise mode in NBA 2K is fun, but something full blown front office sim is too much.

I don't think that analogy applies at all.

Also, I couldn't drive a stick when I first got my license and ended up rushing into buying an automatic just because I didn't want to wait a minute longer to have my own car.

Later on I got more interested in modifying and racing cars and spent a lot of my time lamenting the fact that I didn't have a manual. Since then I've only purchased manual transmission cars, and I will never go back. Talk to anyone who has taken the time to learn stick, and they will tell you it's a significantly more enjoyable driving experience (aside from stop-and-go traffic, which is a moot point for video games).

Point being, don't limit yourself just because you're not good at driving stick yet. In fact, a simulator is a great way to get better at it. Don't forget it's optional.

You don't have to use the clutch if you set the game to automatic transmission. But it's not just about the clutch. The g27 is just a big jump in quality, mainly the pedals. With the DF:GT you get these finicky pedals that feel cheap and offer no resistance. You can fully depress the gas or brake with your big toe. The g25/27 pedals are worth the price jump if you can get it from logitech with the half off coupon.

thanks clutchcity and vinsensual for the advice. Now I'm really debating if I should just return the GT driving force and buy the G27 pedals. Really need the logitech half off coupon for that though.

Alternatively, maybe I can get away with using the GT DF for a year a two, if I do find my self playing racing sims a lot, then upgrade and I can give the GT wheel away as a gift or something.

BTW, just played a round of pro street, pretty fun with the wheel i say :D

I got the driving force GT and it's been great -- it makes the game way more fun. There was no way i'm spending the money or taking the time to build a racing seat. DF/GT is light years better than just using the controller, which is the most important thing. Got mine for about a hundred and it's great quality -- no complaints at all. If you want to shift manual there's always the paddle buttons or the little click shifter.

They're not that bad at all -- mine have worked perfectly. You just don't want to slam on them with full force, but the spring(s) feel strong enough. The force feedback in the wheel is really good IMO.
