For people who play video games, sure. I use my PS3 as a media center, for streaming downloaded TV shows, music, watching movies off Netflix, and of course... watching "doomed" blu-ray discs.
Yeah I hardly ever play games. With the PS3 the only thing i need for a complete Home audio package is a receiver and amp.
anyone having issues with this? i just installed and register. it takes a long ass time to get in and then i don't see any movie titles. only a bunch of empty boxes. never mind, got in after a while. where are the HD movies? it's mostly SD.
Just in time for me to pick up this bad boy... http://kotaku.com/5662858/a-look-at-the-ps3-surround-sound-system
This only matters when the damned thing is not broken. I have had three systems die on me (2 of them were Elite). The 360 is great when it works, but a lot of the time it is either a paperweight or a pain in the ass.
Wii also got a similar update today I believe (guess 360 exclusivity deal ended). Not sure how it differs. Guessing SD only, but nice interface with Wiimote control. I want PS3 Netflix with 3D menus, Move integration, and headtracking.
I'm trying to watch Let the Right One In but the subtitles are cut off because of the black bars. Can someone confirm they are experiencing the same thing?
Haha! Repped. Ps3 owns Xbox 360 and its not even close. Hell, I have both systems and I have to admit everything is just better about the Ps3. Advantages of the Ps3: Blu-ray Free internet and online play CHARGEABLE CONTROLLERS Free streaming for videos, movies, pictures, etc. Disadvantages of the Xbox 360: The 360 has a very ugly interface and it does not let you copy anything to the hard drive (like movies or pictures). It also has a slow DVD ROM drive instead of a Blu-Ray drive which really affects games since they cant fit nearly as much on a DVD as they can on a Blu-Ray. It has no wifi (unless you spend an extra $100 for the wifi adapter). It has no RECHARGEABLE controller (unless you spend an extra $20 for the RECHARGEABLE controller). It has no HDMI port, has no HD drive (unless you spend an extra $50 for the obsolete HD DVD drive), and has no free online service (360 has to pay $50 bucks a year). So anyway you look at it, the Ps3 rapes the 360 in the arse. The ONLY thing the 360 might have is more competitive online gaming since they have to PAY to play.
I agree with pretty much everything you said, but I do think 360 has another advantage. The controller for the PS3 seems really flimsy and the design is a little outdated. The 360 controller feels a lot sturdier and also has a better design in my opinion.
I don't mean to interrupt the XBox/PS3 pissing contest, but the Wii also just got Netflix streaming without a disc too. Woo-hoo! OK, back to the show.
Love the games on the PS3. Only one I ever cared about on 360 was Mass Effect, but the second one is coming out for both. The better games on 360 argument pretty much was dead a couple of years ago. Next we should argue if McGrady is a point forward or that all Carr needs is a good line. Anyway, the update worked fine and I like the interface for Netflix a million times better now. Plus it seems to be faster. I think I'm going to end up getting rid of cable.
