Uncharted 2 is probably the best game I ever played... and I've been gaming since Pong. I can't think of a better single player campaign.
For all you Demon's Souls players out there who were looking for more of a challenge: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3176715
Oh my god, I'm dying laughing. I can't wait to hear all the crybabies whimpering about getting killed 387 times.
1UP got rid of all the good parts of the PR. http://www.atlus.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4901 I think I like this other release by Atlus better though: http://www.atlus.com/forum/showthread.php?p=143562
Sweet. I just ordered Demon's Souls, Fallout 3, and Ratchet and Clank from Best Buy as part of their buy 2 get 1 free. I probably won't get to Demon's Souls until December, but I'm really looking forward to checking this game out after all the raves in this thread.
So I finally got sorta "done" playing this game, at least for awhile. I'm near the end of my third play-through and I'm around level 150. Main equipment is Blueblood Sword, Purple Flame Shield +10, Talisman of Beasts, and Lava Bow. In reserve I have Dark Silver Shield +5, Moon Spear +5, Large Sword of Moonlight +5, and Blind +5. My character is just really well-rounded... 27 is my lowest rating, with 36 being my highest. I logged over 100 hours. Hard to praise this game enough. Old-school difficulty in the best sense of the term, and risks are always real and unavoidable because there's no saving and reloading. There's a ton to do, too... which is why I made it through three games before I really "did everything" (and I still never got pure black character tendency, actually). The number of approaches to combat is staggering, and the weapon and armor balancing is superb. About to start Uncharted 2, and let me tell you, if that's as good as I think it'll be... man. Uncharted 2, Demon's Souls, and Valkyria Chronicles all have a level of greatness where I feel like usually games that good only come out once a year. I hope developers can keep up the creativity.
Demon's Souls is going Pure White for the Holidays: http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/12/17/solstice-shifting-demons-souls-to-pure-white-tendency-for-sho/ Thought some of you might find that interesting if you need to pick up any special weapons. I'm almost done with my first playthrough and missed only 1 Pure White opportunity (on World 5). I think I'll skip this and just pick it up on NG+. So far, I'm really digging this game. I usually only play 1 RPG per generation, although I might have to make it 2 with Valkryia Chronicles sometime next year.
I think it's just Pure White World Tendency. I don't think it affects your Character Tendency. For the Friendship Ring, you still have to kill all 5 Black Phantom NPC's.
I realize it's usually a "nono" do revive dead threads, but I figured something only 6 weeks old is still within the realm of acceptability. Anybody out there still playing this game? I just picked it up recently, and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I've been spreading out my stats pretty evenly as a I level, although from what I've read...it's best to specialize. I guess I've always been a fan of jack-of-all-trades characters instead of actual role-playing.
Man NG+ with Pure Black World Tendency is a real b****! Those couple of named black phantoms are harder than most bosses!
Actually, I did the exact same thing with evenly distributing my stat points... make sure you pick up the Blueblood Sword... especially effective for those with evenly-distributed stats. It actually almost disappoints me a bit that most of the bosses are easy once you figure out what their schtick is. In fact, on my 3rd play-through, the ONLY bosses I found hard were Maneater (the two Gargoyles in 3-2), and obviously King Allant... who for me was pretty much impossible by the 3rd play-through... I had to to use the Poison Cloud "cheat" to beat him. Oh, and I almost forgot, speaking of optional bosses... Old King Doran. That guy is preposterous. I never beat him legitimately no matter what play-through I was on. I always used the cheat where I lured him past where he was meant to go and then took free shots at him as he walked back. I did really enjoy the named black phantom fights though... because they were tough for me but not impossible, and they weren't patterned like the other bosses, so they kept me on my toes.
