Well then... any idea of a place to grab a club? I haven't run across one yet, and I don't think the blacksmith in the nexus sells them. Might be wrong though, I'll have to double check. Really looking forward to playing more of this. I made it through 1-1 and still haven't died yet, but I'm sure it's coming. I'm keeping the number of souls on me pretty low so I won't be too pissed when I do.
I believe you can buy a club at the end of tunnels in 1-2 for 500 souls. Just get to a tower and look for the stairs going down. For the black skeletons in 4-1...probably best to use fire spells or have people help you. 4-x is a tough place but gives a lot of souls, you should find plenty of blue phantom help since blues don't lose souls when they die, so it's a safe way for them to farm souls too.
Thanks... got the club, though as it turns out it was unnecessary to get it. I managed to jump into 4-1 and beat the skeletons with my standard falchion. The black skeletons aren't as hard as I thought they'd be, a lot of rolling seems to do the trick most of the time. So now I've been rocking the crescent falchion for awhile... beat 1-2 and 4-1. Died several times in 4-1... once from the Grey Demon, a few times along the cliffs, and once at the boss. Also died once at the 1-2 boss. So yeah... I'm finally feeling the difficulty, which is great. Totally in love with this game, as evidenced by my not being in bed at 2am in the morning. Work is gonna suck tomorrow...
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. My PS3 just got the YLOD (Yellow Light of Death). Since Demon's Souls saves are write-protected, I have little to no chance of getting my game save back. I was 15 hours in! Arrgggg!
Yep, I actually have two of them. Sad that I have a working system and intact hard drive, and still there's no way to recover my saves because of DRM. On the DRM front, the 360 has the enlightened approach.
Damn, sorry to hear that DF22...that sucks. Finally got back from Boston tonight...I missed my video games, I'll start fresh tomorrow, too tired to dive right back into Demon's.
Got back to it after a week an a half and was about to cry when upon loading it gave me an error message saying I would need to reload the game... Thank God it fixed itself because having to start all over again would be crushing.
Wow, I think I'll go check it out before bed...that would pretty much force me to move on to Uncharted 2 until, one day, maybe I could muster up the will power to start all over.
Pretty interesting...I turned it on. Everything seemed ok. Started up a level just to mess around for a little bit. My fps were horrendous, probably around 15-20. Half the objects on the level were invisible/missing...but I could still run into them, its just that the object wouldnt show. After a couple min, I decided to return to the nexus. It never stopped loading...I waited for about 5 min...nothing. Restarted the game and it appeared ok. Thats enough drama for me for a night.
I'm sorry, mate. Let us know how it goes getting that sucker fixed. I have a launch BC PS3, and I'm wondering what my options are if it goes south on me. It sounds like second playthroughs on Demon's Souls are a lot easier, so hopefully it won't take half as long to progress as far as you had originally.
I had actually just got that system back from being fixed... it worked for 4 days (as long as I was playing Demon's Souls), then broke again. The fortunate thing is I was able to back up all my saves that weren't copy-protected, but I still lost my Demon's Soul Data, my RSV2 data, and quite a number of others. What I'm told now is they're probably going to actually replace the mainboard this time rather than just trying to "fix" it, which hopefully will keep it from breaking again. That is what I'm finding so far, fortunately... knowing your way around the worlds makes the game a lot easier.
I've beaten 4-1 four times as a blue phantom, but every time I try to do it in human form I get invaded and slaughtered. Any tips for dealing with black phantoms? My attacks seem to do about 1/4th the damage they normally do, and when I get attacked by one I lose almost my entire health bar.
I wouldn't know anything about being invaded yet myself... playing offline the first time through the game, because I hate being forewarned of traps and having strategies for killing upcoming enemies handed to me. I'll turn it on next time through...
Yea I took my character to New Game after beating the final boss, I was surprised at how easy 1-1 and a few other zones felt just from experience alone even though NG is suppose to be much harder Are you raising the right stats for your weapon of choice? Not all weapon scale with strength/dex, press Square to find out more info about your weapon scaling or go to the wiki http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/items Also it's much more important to be roll fast when fighting another player. So take off some armor if you're not under 50% of your equipment weight You cannot be invaded if you play in soul form. Of course the downside is you have less hp, can't summon and you're pretty much forced to wear a cling ring...
There arent too many messages...most of them are bogus anyways. Examples: "Beware ahead"..."Enemies coming up!"..."Watch out!". So yeah, nothing you wouldnt already be planning for. I checked a few messages when I first got the game just to see what it was about, but I no longer check them, its a waste of time. I decided to invade someones game for the first time. As soon as I invaded, the guy summoned a blue phantom. Before I knew it, both of them were launching magic all over me. I died in maybe 12 seconds. FML.
I am focusing on Magic now, but the first thing I did was level strength to 22 so I could use the purple flame shield. My starting class was royal, so it took a lot of levels just to get strength up to where I needed it. I guess I could just play offline in human form, but I thought it would be easier if I could get a blue phantom or two to help out. I beat 1-1 and 2-1 in soul form, so I guess I could just try to do the same in 4-1.
Persistence pays off, I beat a black phantom in 1-2 and 4-1 then proceeded to beat both levels. Playing offline just isn't the same, and now I have a ring that should decrease the chances of being invaded.
I screwed up and played 2K10 this weekend. Didn't get to play Demon's Souls, but I think I'll get back to it this week. Want to finish it before I start playing other games.
