Its a good time...I havent had nearly enough time to play as much as I should be...but when Im away, Im thinking about it, and that is very rare for me and videogames.
In 2-1, you go up some stairs and the guy is right there. No enemies nearby, so you don't have to worry about that.
Can't sell them AFAIK. You can trade some items though. Have to find a talking Crow in one of the levels (don't know if you want that spoiled). I think you can only do one trade per item though (if you trade 10 As for one B, you can't trade another 10 As for another B). I save mine for some reason. I have a lot of junk that the deposit guy is holding for me.
I am about to cry. Seriously. I have never progressed so far in a level just to be placed back at the start....wow, theres a pain in my chess and i cant breef
Would I ever find this game used? Or (since it's an Atlus game), I should just by this game new right now?
I don't know if it being an Atlus game really means much. Some of their games were hard to find shortly after release, but I think they've gotten better. You can still buy Persona 4 (or Persona 3...or even Nocturne/DDS1/DDS2 now apparently ) from Amazon pretty easily. Of course, that would be in new condition. Don't know about used, but if you can find it new, you could probably find it used. Of course, I think you should buy it new right now anyway. edit: I just realized that Demon's Souls is continuing the trend of awesome Atlus games I like (even if they they just published this one). I think I talked myself into preordering the game just because it was being published by Atlus. Was worried that might backfire, but the effect was more like the opposite.
If you cant find it used, just do yourself a favor and get it now, even if you have to spend a few extra bucks on it. Its a keeper...and Im not really big on RPGs to begin with, so that should tell you something.
I had mostly been sticking to 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, and 4-1, but I checked out 3-1 last night. Was a relatively easy level (at least for me), but I thought it was an awesome level. Great atmosphere created by some nice visuals and audio. The game does seem to have a bit of a horror element to it in some levels. Saved Sage Freke in 3-1, so now I have access to better spells finally. Got Soul Ray (upgraded Soul Arrow) and Total Protection I think (upgraded Protection). Of course, I didn't realize the latter required two magic slots, so now I need to upgrade my Intelligence attribute in order to "remember" both spells.
Man, I suck...Ive gotten killed by the Adjudicator boss maybe 5 times...one time, I got signed out of PSN in the middle of battle...when I returned to my game, the boss immediately used his tongue on me before I could realize where I was and I died. This game is a pain in my freaking ass...but its so addicting too. Im going to be out of town for a week starting Monday. Going to suck not being able to play.
I would buy it right away if it wasn't a game that take such a time commitment to play. I love RPGs but after I started working, games that aren't pick up and play just doesn't work for me. I'm still trying to beat Zelda, games that I ended up finishing this year are FF12, Fallout 3, Assassin's Creed and that's about it, Still haven't got to Persona 3 and 4, Tales of Symphonia, GTA IV, Devil May Cry (I literally have 12 games to start before this one).
So I'm picking this up next week it looks like. But man, it sounds like it could be a real test for my frustration level. That's the only thing holding me back.
Yes...its so effing frustrating...but so damn good. I cant explain it. Ive cursed, screamed, flicked off my tv, etc...but I cant freaking stop playing. Its 5 am and Im mentally done. I was planning on stopping a couple hours ago, but its too hard to put the controller down when you are sooo close to beating something and you have to start over. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Anyways, I suck at RPGs to begin with, so you'll probably fare better than me. But man, the feeling you get after beating a boss...if there was a camera set up in my room, you'd see me motioning to the dead boss to get on its knees and... Trying to get in as much playing time as possible before I have to take a 1 week hiatus because of work. And then I return...just in time for Forza 3. I need a 2 month break from life so I can focus on what's important...video games.
rezdawg already explained this pretty well, but the frustration in this game seems a bit different from other difficult games I played. Every time you die, it is usually because you screwed up, and not the enemy doing some cheap attack. I think that's why everyone has problems putting the game down. When you screw up, you know how and why you screwed up, and that if you avoid that, you can defeat the enemy. And get revenge. In fact, revenge really motivates me in this game. I think some parts of the game aren't even that difficult if you take your time. As I said earlier, 3-1 was pretty easy for me. Didn't really come close to dying until the boss fight, and I don't think I'm particularly good at the game (more so the reflexes it takes to dodge, attack, etc.).
Youre spot on here...every time I die, I think, "Dammit, Im such an idiot!". I'll give 3-1 a try...after I spend 8 hrs on 4-2 killing the reaper to gain as many souls as I can.
Just picked this up... it was hard to find, as people have been saying. I'm gonna try reeeeaaaaalllly hard though to resist playing it until I'm done with Tales of Vesperia... which will probably be soon, so I'll probably dig into this early next week...
Wow, you're pretty close to being further than I am (or at that point already). I haven't even beat the 4-1 boss yet. Been trying to, but those black phantom enemies that I've been talking about are making it difficult. Not so much because they're hard (although they are), but whenever I get close to the end, I have a ton of souls, and I'm too scared of losing them. Think I might try to beat it tonight though. Really want to check out 4-2.
4-1 can be a pain...I think I died approximately 35 times on that level. And I cant even begin to tell you how many souls I had given up, easily in the 200,000 range. FML. But Im not really far at all...4-1 is only the 2nd boss I have beaten. Ive ventured into other levels, but not far enough where I can say Im close. Im currently ~16 hours in and at level 46 (thanks to 4-2).
How high can you level? Is the world highly explorable? Is it an "open world"? Is there such thing as grass, or is it more of a dungeon type setting for the most part?
