I got the Gamecube not long after it came out, and after a while I was getting disappointed with the purchase. The games coming out just didn't impress me much. But here lately, Starfox, Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, and soon to be 2-3 more Resident Evil games, Animal Crossing... it just seems like bundles of great games are suddenly coming out (I know it is Christmas). I am finally glad I went with the Gamecube over the PS2. And as for the FF series, Square isn't planning on making another one for PS2, are they? Meaning, they aren't planning on making the standard, traditional RPG. I have heard they are working on a FF Onlines game, but I haven't heard anything more than that.
I think FFXII will be offline, but I'm not sure. I think they only were experimenting with FFXI to see how it would work. BTW, Square, especially after their new merger with Enix, should make more good RPG's besides FF. I know Kingdom Hearts was pretty good despite the Disney part, and it was only on PS2. (I think.)
alright, how far has anyone gotten with metroid prime? i just got my ass handed to me for the 5th time by this omega pirate guy. the bosses haven't been too tough up til now, well maybe the rock man, but damn! oh well, i'll have to try again when i'm fresh tomorrow. but now that i've gotten serious minutes into it i can pretty much say metroid prime is the best game i've ever played.
Just a remark on the FF stuff. Yes as of now there will be a FF 12. 11 was just to test the waters as it were (according to reports I've seen). Spring of next year in Japan will be FFX-2, the pure sequel to X. It's focused on Yuna with help from Rikku and an unknown character. I've got the little trailer the show in Japan and it looks pretty sweet, with more landscape interaction (jumping and falling, etc.) As for the debate, I've got both and I still prefer the PS2. I haven't gotten Prime yet but I'm still in the camp that believes that PS2's catalog is just too good right now.
I didn't play FF except for a few nintendo games back in the day. Anyways, I was just curious if the Rikku in FF was the one they put in Kingdom Hearts? I just have to say, the online gaming doesn't excite me for either PS2 or X-box. Nothing tops what you can do on PC. I think online gaming won't really get good until the next generation of systems comes out.
Well I went with PS2. X-box wasn't really an option for me either since they have no games I want. GC tempted me, but in the end I went for the PS2 because - my fav genre is rpgs and they have nil on the GC and wont have very many in the future either. PS2 has plenty already with more on the way. - not a huge fan of platformers, survival horror, or fps, and if I feel the urge to play them there are plenty of good ones on the PS2. - bigger game selection - cheaper games. Lotsa good games you can get for PS2 for 20 - 30 bucks.
Argh! I went in early to Zellers this morning to pick up a PS2 for the special $280 (Can) price, but the bums were sold out! It looks like if I want that system, I'll have to get it somewhere else and pay the regular $300 price. Meanwhile, they had Gamecubes retailing for $230. In fact, I can get a Gamecube & Super Mario Sunshine bundle for $280; $20 less than a PS2 with no game. Unless PS2 has another price drop soon, it looks like economics is going to win out and I'll be getting a Gamecube. I just can't justify spending that much for a system when there's another one that I'd like almost as much for substantially less.
Actaully yes that is the same Rikku. They "kiddie-fied" some Final Fantasy characters for a Disney game that actually appealled to most adults I've talked to who've played it. So, you get young versions of Rikku, Aeris, Tidus, Wakka, "Leon", Cloud, and even the platinum battle character, among others
I don't think Rikku was in it. Their Rikku was Sora's friend and not a FF character. Maybe you're getting Selphie confused with Rikku? I certainly don't remember seeing the FFX Rikku in KH.
I have PS2 and like it better then GameCube. PS2's game library is a heck of a lot better then Game Cube's. GTA is only for PS2.
I don't think that a guy with a sword and bluish-grayish hair who is pretty serious is supposed to be the same as a young girl who is not serious and uses gloves. (I think. Something like that though.) The only relation between the 2 is that they have the same name...and they are young. That's about all I can think of. Considering all the other characters were pretty much EXACTLY like they were in their games, I don't think that KH's Rikku was the same as FFX's Rikku.
