Here is more on the near future and why you might just want to buy a DreamCast and wait for the Xbox: Microsoft has it’s fingers crossed today hoping a few people will hold out on picking up a PS2 and wait a year for their game console. It might not be a stretch considering only 500,000 PS2s are currently available. This time next year Microsoft will release what it hopes will be the most powerful videogame console in the world. Xbox is supposed to have breathtaking graphics and judging by the power inside, it undoubtedly will. A modified Pentium III processor built by Intel and a top speed of 733 megahertz, which is modest compared to a fast PC, blows Sony's 300 megahertz processor out of the water. Xbox will produce 150 million polygons-per-second vs. 66 million-per-second for the PlayStation 2. The box will also come with an 8-gigabyte hard disk, a DVD drive, and a built-in port for high-speed online gaming. Of course the quality of a console is based on the quality of its games, so Microsoft has lined up over 150 3rd party developers and teams to create Xbox games and plans on having 30 games at launch, 50 by the holidays, and 100 after a few months. A lot can happen in a year, only time will tell if Microsoft has a chance in the world of console gaming. ------------------
OUCH. When is is coming out and approximately how much will the XBox be? ------------------ Francis out top, 9 seconds on the clock, he gives a no look pass to Cuttino Mobley, 4 seconds left, Mobley passes to an open Langhi in the corner with 1 second left! Langhi at the buzzer.......YES!!! How Sweet It Is!!
The Xbox isn't a PC though is it ? Also, what about the new Nintendo's coming out ? The dolphin ? ------------------ "I know how hard it is to put food on your family." George W. Bush
Rockets R' Us: Xbox will launch sometime during Fall 2001. Microsoft hasn't announced an official price yet, but I expect it to launch at $299. FYI, Nintendo is really emphasizing affordability this time....don't be surprised if the GameCube launches at $199 or even lower when it hits October 2001. ------------------
Will the Xbox come with Windows OS? Just wondering. The Xbox will out do its competitors in terms of graphics, but it seems to me that it is basically a PC in game console form. Sony already controls the software market and has deals in place with the biggest game manufacturers. I don't know. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Smokey (edited October 27, 2000).]
ALMU soulblade is STILL one of the top 5 games of all time. my budies and I all still play it. Also Gran Turismo is equally as good of a title. Playstation is the best system on the market even still in my opinion. My housmates and I play more games on the playstation than on dreamcast and N64 combined. other kick ass titles are Tonyhawk proskater, and cool boarders. these games have MONTHS of playing time. GO FOR THE PS2 ------------------
You guys are lucky. Overe here in Australia the PS2 is still a month away from launch. On top of that its will cost....wait for it....$750!!! I am a child of the game consol however and because the PS2 is a DVD player as well it isnt to bad a price (DVD players cost heaps as well...damn Aussie dollar One thing I am looking at when buying my system is this. Sega has a history of making "Revolutionary" game systems only for them to be dead in a years time, out done by another company. Now Im not saying this because Im a playstation fan, because I started my gaming on a master system and a genisis. But I wouldnt want to pay for a Dreamcast only for it to become the next Genisis CD (remember that thing?). The X Box sounds good, but it sounds like a PC with a game console stamp. I like the playstation because its basically plug in and play (Unlike a PC). If its turn out to be a realy great system I might buy it, but at this stage the Playstation is the way to go in my opinion. I'll be buying a Playstation 2 because: Sony showed with the playstation they know how to get the job done. Sony have the games I like to play (Ea Sports games, Metal Gear Solid,F1.....) Sony (From what Ive read/heard) are making the system upgradable. So if there is an upgrade you want to make to the Playstation 2 you buy the upgrade and basically connect it very easily. Sony have the sales figures. The playstation broke records. I expect so will the PS2. That translates into more games on the system. The Paystation 2 looks like a good system. Its very easy to use which I realy like So thats my opinion I think in a couple of years time Playstation 2 will be dominant system. I think the Dreamcast could end up being one of thoes systems that just dosent seem to get the job done. Im not sure about the X Box....I guess time will tell. Anyway what systems have you owned. Iv had a Master System (Fun), Mega Drive (Genisis) (Made me an NBA Live fan), Playstation (When I first heard Murry walker commentating a race I was in I just had to get one!) and in one Months time a PS2.
