Props to Padgett but even more props to the JVG and his makeover of this team. Even though we got Francis, Yao, Mobley starting, we have a smart team coming off the bench. If any of our main scorers reach a slump, our rotation off the bench is awesome! We actually have a team full of role players and we are actually using all of our resources (except Meech, Wilks) and we are seeing major contributions from everybody. Braggs comes in and he grabs the rebounds. MoT goes in first and scores. Boki or Padgett comes in and shoot off the double teams of our big men. Mooch, well hes cool. But when Pike and AGriff come in, our team should be at full speed. It seems when our main players dont accomplish, we have players off the bench that can accomplish. I feel that the players on the bench we have now without a doubt will PLAY a HUGE ROLE in determining our chances in the playoffs. JVG has assembled a team full of individual talents and role players. GO ROX!!! itzIce
Excellent point Sane. Padgett isn't anything more than a mediocre basketball player. But what makes him good for this team is that he realizes that he has to work his butt off to contribute. I do think getting guys who work hard will rub off on other players so maybe Eddie should get a shot.
Padgett is a great pickup, and he deserves the kind words in this thread. Also, did anybody notice that Alton Ford played two minutes and had a blocked shot? Of course, he had one turnover, but it looked like he had the same type of hustle and desire exhibited by Padgett.
Excellent point, Sane! Another thing about Padgett, he is a SYSTEM type of player. Current Rockets have TWO and HALF system type players in Yao, Padgett, and JJ. --daoshi
probably I will get scolded for this but I think Padgett or Pike should START at sf. JJ should be Mobleys backup, and then either Padgett or Pike would backup either Padgett or pike. I would also have pike play backup pg instead of mooch. No more mooch steve/pike mobley/jackson padgett/(jj or pike)/boki cato/taylor/braggs/ford ming/cato
Not a bad idea, considering that Scott Padgett is shooting well lately and Jimmy Jackson still has to find his touch. I want both to succeed and the Rockets to win. Whoever has the hot hand should get more playing time. In fact I thought Jimmy Jackson would get a lot of shots because he was starting-- so I got him for my fantasy team. His shooting touch has yet to return, so maybe Coach J. Van Gundy could consider Scott Padgett AS A STARTER.
While his size is PF, he likes to shoot jumpers and 3s. So he actually plays like a SF. Cato was a C, too but he is doing fine as a PF. If it is ok for Cato, I think it is ok for Padgett as well. But I would wait couple more games to see if he can keep this up. If he can keep up, then he deserves the promotion.
Despite the shooting percentage differences, I would rather see JJ out there right now than Padgett, largely for defensive and passing reasons. Padgett is a good passer, but I think Jackson brings a certain cool-headedness to the team that is deeply needed at times when the guards lose control of the ship for a bit. Jackson will find his shooting touch...and when he does he will be far more valuable to have in the lineup than Padgett. Plus, I really like the way Padgett works coming off the bench with Nachbar. Those two are developing a good chemistry.
ZRB: "Scott Padgett is the best Scottie P. the Rockets have ever had." Padgett hasn't missed a playoff game due to a headache once!
With our fring plasyers this Team is shaping up to be what I only dreamerd of! Go Padgett, Go Piatowski, Go Griffin,Go JJ,Go Braggs, Go Rockets.
