I think you find a way for the jobs program to pay for itself, or cut the defense budget to pay for it and do it now. That way it won't be seen as adding to the debt.

While crafting the jobs plan publicly invite GOP lawmakers on board. They can turn it down, but make that public as well. Do everything out in the open, and even make some concessions along the way if it will help.

I think the right wing going against a jobs plan may be a fringe benefit but the real benefit would be getting one passed and actually implementing it. When our govt. has taken big steps we've come up with the interstate system, the space program, the Hoover dam, rural electrification, and all sorts of other projects that were only possible with the US govt. leading the way.

The govt. is capable of actually doing good. It's time to show that again.

    planning the economy doesn't work

Obama's plan will involve two things. 1) spend other people's money on stuff he likes 2) manipulate the tax code

Graft, favors, patronage, access. It's what Obama learned in Chicago, it's all he knows.

planning the economy worked great in helping us out of the Great Depression. The backslides only came when they stopped govt. stimulus too early.

I've listed several examples of huge govt. projects that did wonders for our nation and the economy. It's time we move in that direction again.

    Manipulate.

Fab up excessive Mexican drug violence spilling into US, overplay the crap out of it in the media. Stir up public fear and make the war on drugs the new war on terror.

Pull all troops out of foreign countries (hazard areas) to contain the fictional crisis on our borders. Keep all defense "jobs" but cut hazard pay and military mystery spending on untraceable projects.

Station troops on the border, keep out illegal immigration, but still fab up the fictional crisis.

Admit defeat on the war on drugs and pass a probationary legalization of drugs period, say 2 years. Tax the crap out of it.

The two years will wipe out all the cartels and drug violence almost instantaneously. Showcase the power of capitalism and see Columbia try to outproduce Walmart.

See if the legalization of drugs actuality creates an apocolypse, or clears out most jails, petty crime, etc.

Bam, defense budget cut, far far less violence in the middle east, less illegal immigration, less drug violence, a far far less defecit.
