Unfortunately, we could probably cobble together a survey with the terms "racist", "war crimes", "genocide", "inside job", "blood for oil" or even "secretly gay" and get the same depressing statistics for liberals.

LOL as a complete outsider let me say American politics these past two years is one of the most hilarious and entertaining things I have ever followed. Its like watching the audition episodes of American Idol...except this develops 24/7, the face palm moments are ridiculously higher and you don't have the young turks dude making snarky comments instead of Simon Cowell.

Its amazing how you guys love to argue for the sake of arguing, and how you abandon all common sense just to make sure the other guy goes down.

    Case in point:

LOLWUT? I don't even know why you're obsessed with whatever differences there are between saying "not sure" and saying "maybe" but the poll itself only has two options when it asked whether Obama is racist and wants the terrorists to win: "No", and "I'm an idiot". Add all the "I'm an idiot" answers together and you end up with most of the identified Republicans saying they're idiots. You can argue that the identitified Republicans don't really make up the majority of the Republicans, but the point is you have a lot of people in your party believing in the silliest of things.

Its because of people like this that there will never be a truly bipartisan agreement, and the reason why you have Republicans making amendments to bills, then turning the bill down after they made their changes. And then they frame the Democrats for the changes that they made, making it look like they're the "heroes" for turning down the bills with amendments they themselves created. And the crazy thing is the Democrats are fine with that, and continue blithely along despite the fact that they're lambs being led to the slaughter.

The whole financial crisis happened because of deregulation of banks, everybody knows that and yet you still have people pushing for more deregulation in the senate. The Democrats should be killing out there, instead they're the ones getting served. Either the Democrats are really, really stupid, or the Republicans are just that damn good. Its like I'm watching "Thank you for smoking" in real life lol

Since he apparently disagrees with you, it only goes to follow that he must be Trader_Jorge.

Everybody knows nothing of the kind. Your analysis is superficial and without substance. If you want to get into this further, feel free to start a thread on the the impact of deregulation on the recent financial crisis, and I will be sure to join you in that discussion. Until then, consider yourself warned.

Actually, the far left and the far right both have their fair share of stupid bull****. That is why elections are won and lost with those voters that are in the middle.

Besides, this line of thinking really is not helpful in repairing the schism that has developed in our nation. There was once a time that I thought that "all lefties are crazy." Time and reason has led me to the conclusion that each side has something to offer the other. The problem is that neither side is listening and both sides are more concerned with bravado and "winning" to do that which is helpful to the nation as a whole.

    It saddens me.

You could find Republicans that fit the very definitions you gave as well. Here...I'll start you with one. Kay Bailey Hutchison. I'll leave it to your imagination which category that bag of wind fits into.

When you realize that the elected officials of both parties are by and large not good people, you will be much better off.

And I repeat: most Democrats don't BELIEVE stupid bull****.

There's such a thing as honest disagreements, but when Republicans are playing with their own set of [hilariously wrong] "facts," there is no hope for honest discourse.

That is what the poll proved.

I'd really like to know your thoughts on the following questions, Refman:

    Is Obama a citizen?
    Is Obama a socialist?
Is Obama a racist who hates white people?
Does Obama want the terrorists to win?

And now I'd really like to know your response to the fact that a plurality of the party you usually vote for is bat**** crazy.

And as for anyone else complaining about my "antics"...

I am SO sorry I called people who think:

    - Obama isn't a citizen
    - Obama is a socialist
    - Obama is a racist who hates white people
    - Obama wants the terrorists to win

    idiots.

What crazy antics on my part!

What would you idiots call those people?

Yes, and since Obama isn't a racist you weren't moved to defend him. You only defend actual racists. Why is that, exactly? Hmmm...

    Wow.

I sincerely hope that means you're voting for Bill White. The alternative just doesn't jibe with my impression of you as a generally reasonable dude.

It wasn't the "far right" that responded to the poll with insanely stupid answers. It was a plurality/majority that did. By definition, that is not the "far" right. By definition it is THE right.

But the most important thing about this poll is what it says about the state of our politics today.

The reason that nothing can get done is that the Republicans have decided that a moderate, centrist Democrat is the anti-Christ. That he is a racist, that he is a socialist, that he wants the terrorists to win. That he isn't even a citizen. That he isn't a legitimate president.

In fact, his greatest failing is that he still believes it is possible to get something done through bi-partisan cooperation with these people.

That is a mistake. We all knew that but the poll proves it for once and for all.

These people aren't just partisans; they believe incredibly insane **** that makes them think a pragmatic centrist is an evil ideologue.

What exactly is he supposed to do with that?

But you've profiled me as one who would believe him to be racist merely by my Republican affiliation a.k.a. Idiocy. How would I be able to even help myself from thinking sour thoughts about Obama?

If he was actually a racist, you'd vote for him every day and twice on Sunday.

Not at all. We all know who jorge is.

I was just wondering how someone that is relatively new around here would know anything about the posting history of other posters. So much so that they would make such an, dare I say it, idiotic statement like they did.
