Yeah, its the universal meme for "But that's none of my business..." (basically a sarcastic response to something you disagree with). As long as he can throw like Wagner... he can be an ass like Wagner too.
I'm fine with McCullers being pissed, we need some pitchers with a little attitude Ryan, Clemens, Big Unit weren't exactly "nice"
He's a 21 y/o starting pitching prospect who just came off a bad year at A+ ball, where does he get off chiming in on how the Astros allocate FA dollars? Is he implying he'd rather be the closer at the big league level next year or something?
Haha, exactly...why the F would he even comment on that. Has nothing to do with him at this point in his career.
Nor were they titty babies. The only public comments I've ever heard from McCullers were pissing and moaning about his place on the roster.
A guy that walked 5 batters per 9 innings in freaking A ball shouldn't be making any comments on the big league club.
To be fair there was no twitter when those guys were coming up so we really don't know what their daily thoughts were, it's a different world now My guess is guys like that always felt like they were "ready" even before they were I have no problem with him being over confident, don't mean I want him to be our closer, but I don't care so much about the chatter that seems to bother so many
True that. One would like to think that guys who had a more mature disposition with the press in those days (McCullers has also whined in the press more than once) would have had the same maturity with social media, but we really don't know for sure. Sounds pretty reasonable. But what we don't know is how much maturity or restraint they would have shown with public commentary. I understand. This kind of chatter bothers me because it smacks of real immaturity. There are appropriate forums to voice one's displeasure or to struggle with one's impatience. How many other, perhaps more deserving, Astros prospects have complained multiple times to the media or via social networking? The list, methinks, shall be quite short. That's why McCullers strikes me as a titty baby. Now, here's hoping he's not that at all, and turns into a twenty-year HoF closer for the Astros who rivals Mariano's records.
Martin signs with Blue Jays for 5/82. Sets the bar pretty high on the catching market and would seem to bode well for our potential return assuming we're looking to move one of our 3.
I really think the FA market is setting up for the Astros making another big trade or two. Given Russell Martin's outrageous K, I could see us packaging Castro for a premium minor leaguer or two (from a team that missed on Martin...ala LA, PIT, etc.), and then moving some of our minor league depth, perhaps even some of our better prospects for an impact player. I like our chances of signing one of the top closers and another decent bullpen arm. The FO has money to spend...it just has to fit in their "window".
Who trades at impact player for a low-buy catcher and a prospect? I don't know who makes that move. Especially with 2 wild card spots, the number of teams trading impact players is dwindling. Plus our system is seriously overrated by prospect guys. Short of trading Appel or Correa, there's not another blue-chipper in the bunch much less one that would make a decent contribution next year.
A blurb from a Rosenthal note-compiling piece this morning: "The Astros are drawing inquiries on Jason Castro, Hank Conger and Carlos Corporan." Castro and Corporan aren't new, but the inclusion of Conger caught my eye.
Well, they do likely have to trade one of the catchers... Stassi is also in the mix as well. Anybody know who Rosenthal's "source" is inside the Astros? He broke the Aiken story weeks before anything was announced.

Springer Marisnick Fowler Grossman Pressley I'm assuming all 5 won't be on the opening day roster, which doesn't figure in Krauss & Hoes.
Robbie Grossman, anyone? Not holding my breath, but could a package of Grossman and Corporan get the Astros anything of value?
Alex Presley.. really? I mean, he's a decent glove man, but his bat is terrible. I think Aplin could replace what he does right now, with more upside and cheaper. Just don't see the point of keeping him around.
