dude, you're an idiot. i said it the first time you started to post, and i have been proved correct. you are unable to distinguish your opinion from fact. i'll prove it indisputably in the hope that you'll just go away:

"i only deal with the facts"

    "the iranian regime is progressive"

The second statement simply cannot be classified as anything but an opinion. It is a normative evaluation. Therefore you do not just 'deal in facts' although in your distorted little mind you think every one of your utterances is a fact.

In addition, your 'one term' argument has no basis in relation to the article I posted. The cleric said the President should reverse his decision, the government spokesman said the government would do so. Keep trying, chump.

i didnt make 'some' claims about translations....i simply pointed out that the translation of velayat-e faqih as supreme leader is a poor and incorrect translation and i provided the correct one

as far as the st depts goes....this is the same st dept, which is trying to overthrow the iranian govt with its $75 million intended to 'promote democracy' in iran....the same st dept that has that world renown iran expert liz cheney (dick's daughter) as the head of its iran-syria operations group (also see my previous post on this)...i apologize if i'm a bit skeptical

i'm glad you continue to resort to your favorite tactic: name-calling

for the record, i refuse to stoop to your level

if anybody denies the fact that the post-revolutionary govt has made progress in all aspects since 1979, then they are beyond help

now in relation to this article, iranian women have been attending soccer matches long before the President said it was ok, but that doesnt get reported by the press, and they were at the most recent match as well (gotta watch iranian tv to see that)...so your article is irrelevant...there are also laws on the books saying that unmarried couples cant hold hands and kiss in public, but that doesnt stop anybody, the same way it hasnt stopped women from attending soccer matches

this wasnt even a mediocre attempt to bash/demonize iran

Again, all assertion - no substantiation. No rejoineder to specific points. No credibility.

Thats when they broke into the stadium. they enterd the stadium illegaly on that occasion. according to the mullahs, having woman in the stadium will make guys horney and god knows what they'll get upto. it's a truly sad what the iranian people are going through.

LOL.. Remember a year after the Revolution when thousends of woman went into to the streets to protest against the hejab and the hezbollahi thugs responded by saying, YA ROOSARI YA TOOSARI?...

As for the pro-hejab protests, lol there paid coonies who come to these protests to get paid. there either wives or daughters of the revolutionary guards or realitives.

Not really. You've listed some sources but that's hardly substantiating your claim, you'd need to provide a quote from the source and the cite. Otherwise the burden of providing sustantiation for your points falls on the rest of us. And lest we forget that the last academic source you quoted on Iran completely contradicted your own opinion.

As blazer_ben (and several of the articles)point out, its not that there have never been Iranian women at soccer matches - its that the policy is in place at all. You argue that there are lots of these policies but they are not enforced. That they've had to protest en masse and force their way in belies this contention. You don't have a basis to claim whole articles are false when they lay out the problem.

    *sighs*

if the law was enforced then the women would be arrested or forced out of the stadium, but they're not and this has been a trend, hence the article is irrelevant in the big scheme of things

women attending soccer games isnt exactly news, so i dont see why anybody would report on it

i'm too lazy at the moment to go through all the posts, but i don't think i engaged in name-calling like you, but if i did, i apologize

    what are you demands sir?

i'll see if i can meet them

    A jihad against groomed eyebrows?

Iran Bans Athletes With "Effeminate Look"
    May 8, 2006

Iran's hardline Islamic regime has had enough of football players who sport long hair and plucked eyebrows.

The head of Iran's Physical Education Organization, Mohammad Ali-Abadi, tells the Etemad-Melli newspaper, "I will ban athletes with an effeminate look."

Ali-Abadi goes on to say, "It is really disgraceful for Iran that young people step onto fields wearing make-up," adding that, "When a man enters the field with dyed hair and groomed eyebrows he is disrespecting society."

The paper also says Ali-Abadi appeared to be particularly worried about footballers, and warned that "even though they get away with it now, they will be disqualified in future."
