No, he was in Canada when they arrived here in boats. But it is amusing to see glynch make Kissinger look good.

Why would people listen to a college professor ramble about something as important as a war? What does a damn liberal know about national security?

Half the country don't even understand the language that he's speaking.

Intelligence blows (and r****dness is a bless in disguise).

So you guys even in retrospect think the Vietnam War was a good thing? No learning from history for you guys.

BTW when you talked to the Vietnamese, did you ask them if in retrospect the war was really worth it given the quickly evolving posiiton vis a vis the West that we see in Vietnam and China?

You do know that probably half the people in the South supported Ho Chi Minh, the George Washington of Vientam, too? (I'm not a communist and Ho is not my hero so don't try that bs.) Without our support the South would have fallen quickly, the war would have been short and the reprecussions, reducation etc less harsh? Roughly 2,000, 000 Vietnamese would not have lost their lives.

If we have to kill say 1,000,000 of the 5 million Sunnis to liberate Iraq will that be worth it to you guys? Is there a price too high for you?

We already have 250,000 Fallujans that we are planning to give ID's to and retinal scan etc. so we can try to contol and pacify them. Why does this not sound like the Nazis to you?

This is exactly why we're like an elementary school bully who doesn't understand why everybody else hates him.

My British Lit. teacher told me about this essay, It's good in content and i'm glad that a left winger with a good education and some credibility actually wrote a thought provoking essay. I don't consider myself a left winger or a right religious nut, in the words of the great Chris Rock "in some issues i'm a conservative, and in some issues i'm liberal"

Can you work this into a genocidal scenario? That would help me greatly to do as you ask....

I like Christopher Hitchens take on this Civil War which we have intruded upon because the stakes are so high. Fundamentalist, suicidal, American-hating Muslim jihadists want to control the Middle East so that they can add military power to their terroristic tactics and destroy the West.

Doesn't that sound like something worth stopping before it gets a head of steam?

This is non of my business but i will reply anyways cuz i have nothing better to do. But by we going to the middle east is like fueling a fire, they're more pissed at us now that we're there. And if we do the research we will find that most of the people who were in the planes when they crashed them into the twin towers were Saudis. So why did we go after Iraq. I agree with you on one thing, we need to get the people who want to destroy the west, but it is not American hating Muslim Jihadists only, first, they are Saudis. Why are they getting away with this, its not oil is it? I know that some people take sides on this, and they are free to do so. But try to look at this in a logical way, I don't vote so don't think that i hate Republicans, i hate politicians across the border. But why attack Iraq? why not go after Saudi Arabia? that's my point, we went afet the wrong country and politicians and people who idolize them can't see their obvious mistakes. It's like me, i make errors on my spelling and my puntuation all the time, it's obvious and i admit it. I try to fix them but i keep messing up. I also hate the radicals hippies who think that the U.S. is allways wrong and it's allways our fault that s#%t happens around the world. In my opinion it all comes to religion and culture, and we need to let them live the way they want to, but also they need to let us live the way we want to and no more "death to America" stuff just because we like sports and don't live in caves anymore. They need to calm down and so do we, we stay out of their territory and not kill inocent children and they need to piss off about the beheadings and all their radical stuff. Ok off to bed now, we probably have difference of opinions but we all want the same goal, peace and a fair chance of a decent living around the world, it's just not easy with radical people on both sides of the religion and cultural spectacles. BTW, i'm a Christian but admit we have some people on our side that are nuts, i hear them on Christian radio asking for money for their private plane. I heard some guy a few years ago asking for a private plane so he could "spread" the word. Anyways, like i said about an hour ago, off to bed now i'm just talking rubbish now.

Glynch, that's pretty much just wrong. Most historical retrospectives point out that the average Vietnamese just didn't give a damn who was in power. To them the Cong/NVa and the ARVN BOTH just took and didn't give. The average vietnamese citizen just wanted to be left alone. So please spare us your revisionist history. Our main problem was viewing Vietnam in terms of the Cold War, rather than as a civil war.

Hayes, two points. Kissinger didn't look good in the quote. No concern with nuking or drowning folks. Just it might look bad.

Second, you are probably right in that the average peasant wasn't that concerned with who won. So why was it so important to kill two million folks to prevent Ho from winning? Don't forget about the Killing Fields of Cambodia. It is one of the reasons why you don't do wars lightly.

I predict you will eventually come to the same conclusion wrt to Iraq and hopefully will stop being so keen for war and arms buildups by the US.

I thought the jihadists were the bullies and we were the star quarterback who comes to the rescue of the helpless kid?

That is certainly what GWB wants us to believe, but our actions have been that of a bully, not a rescuer.

    "Holiday In Cambodia"

So you been to school for a year or two
And you know you've seen it all
In daddy's car thinkin' you'll go far
Back east your type don't crawl
Play ethnicky jazz to parade your snazz
    On your five grand stereo
Braggin that you know how the ******s feel cold
And the slums got so much soul

It's time to taste what you most fear
Right Guard will not help you here
    Brace yourself, my dear

    It's a holiday in Cambodia
It's tough kid, but it's life
    It's a holiday in Cambodia
Don't forget to pack a wife

Your a star-belly sneech you suck like a leech
You want everyone to act like you
Kiss ass while you b**** so you can get rich
But your boss gets richer on you
Well you'll work harder with a gun in your back
For a bowl of rice a day
Slave for soldiers til you starve
Then your head skewered on a stake
Now you can go where people are one
Now you can go where they get things done
    What you need my son:

    Is a holiday in Cambodia
    Where people dress in black
    A holiday in Cambodia
Where you'll kiss ass or crack

Pol Pot, Pol Pot, Pol Pot, Pol Pot [etc.]

And it's a holiday in Cambodia
Where you'll do what you're told
    A holiday in Cambodia
Where the slums got so much sou
