Kyle Vanden Bosch and his amazing 3 sacks was added to the AFC Prow Bowl Roster. Its getting embarrassing at every position.

If old-timers Favre and Warner are not called up as back-ups and/or pass, then Tony Romo should get the nod. He had a very good season...his best yet. Led the team to most yards in a season ever in franchise history. Won in December. Won some big games (including a playoff game). Had a really good TD to INT ratio. His improvement was obvious.

Don't be surprised to see him there.

They should have taken Romo before McNabb.

Why don't they have the Pro Bowl before next season's pre-season starts?

    1. When pre-season rolls around, everybody is salivating over football and ready to see some, any type of action.

    2. Everybody on the roster is going to play so minutes will be limited.

    3. There probably wouldn't be the need for all of these dropouts and replacements, some which are just getting downright ridiculous.

    Just a thought.....

That would be ideal - until one player suffers an ACL or some other injury right before the season starts. And then that would be the end of that.

Sort of similar to how, after week 16, Goodell was talking about ways to incentivize teams to play their players in week 17 with draft picks or other ideas. Then Wes Welker happened and you heard nothing more about that idea.

Unless they did it before camp even started, there is no way teams would like having their best players pulled away for at least a couple of days. That would be during the middle of two-a-days.

Maybe they could eliminate the 4th pre-season game and do it then. But it seems like the pro-bowlers from last season playing the game in the new season would be odd.

Another idea is to eliminate the 4th preseason game, start the season a week early, and have a midseason or 2/3 season break and play it then. I would suspect there would be a ton of players backout due to nagging injuries, though.

Well, next years game has already been moved back to Hawaii. They haven't decided whether or not to have it before or after the Super Bowl yet. If I had to guess, I think they'll revert back to the way it was before.

Players already get injured in pre-season games.

There is simply no reason to have an All Star game.

The sport just doesn't lend itself to it the same way basketball and baseball do.

How do you think a skills competition would go over? Something like NFL Olympics where you had competitions going on throughout the stadium. I think something like that already exists for QB's and RB's.

    yeah i know that.

I thought it'd have been assumed that i'm not that dumb.. but i should have clarified I guess. I'd be way more fine with Romo being labeled a "Pro Bowl QB" due to being a replacement than I am with VY getting that label now.

I see what you're saying there. If no one cares about the WNBA All Star selections, arguing about low rung snubs isnt even worth discussion.

But when you follow a team all year in the most popular sport in the country, and as consolation want to see a player you root for make a name for himself, it becomes a matter of focus. Fans might not actually WATCH the Pro Bowl, but they discuss with each other what players off their own team or around the league are DESERVING of an honor. So its not so much the game but the recognition.

Forget VY and the usual suspects, what if its a guy that came out of nowhere, was undrafted and worked hard to be a success? Like Kurt Warner?

    In: Romo
    Out: Favre

More than one-third of NFL QB's can call themselves pro-bowlers this season. And even more if you consider than Roethlisberger and Palmer would've been selected had they been healthy.

NFL GM's are going to get stingy with pro bowl incentives in contracts after this (especially after Peppers got $1.5 mil for it). I don't know what the typical bonus is but for the 5th-8th best QB's to be getting in is crazy.
