Portland has cap room so they can absorb some of it I think.

    I guess you're right.

The Blazers are only like 10 million under the cap I think, so as I understand it their ability to absorb extra salary doesn't matter unless its a smaller deal (if the incoming players put them over the cap, then it has to be within 25% of their outgoing players). But New Orleans needs a bigger deal if it want to avoid paying luxury tax.

If they really want to save some money, they should have a look at this trade: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ntmezv. It would save them like 70 million over the next 3 years. As ridiculous as it sounds, part of me thinks they might actually think about considering it...

Yes please, I'd also throw in our 1st round pick AND take back some more of their bad contracts like Mo Peterson and James Posey.

I've been proposing a trade of this sort for awhile. This was before we signed Anderson. so he would have to be in there somewhere...

But it's not a basketball decision. It's an economic one and Paul has significantly more value (packaged with the poison pill of several huge ridiculous contracts) then he will have later when the Hornets start bumping against the LT deadline or when the team is so gutted that Paul demands to be traded.

It sucks for NO, but this is a business decision and the further it goes without something happening, the less leverage they have to unload the bad contracts.

That Paul made a comment about it is telling.

    So what.

I'd trade whatever they want for Paul at this moment. We're rebuilding, Paul is like 23 and has already broken records.

It won't take long to build a contender with him AND our FO. Since the Hornets FO never really tried.
