I remember seeing this chick sing on SNL and was not impressed, so hopefully Prince will sing a lot of his tunes. Prince and his protégée to play rare Houston gig By MICHAEL D. CLARK Copyright 2006 Houston Chronicle If success is a matter of who you know, then local R&B newcomer Támar — a protégée of iconic funk-soul genius Prince — is on target to be an A-list international performer very soon. Houstonians will be get the rare opportunity to see her early evolution when she and Prince take over the new Warehouse Live club March 3. Támar, who accompanied Prince on a recent Saturday Night Live appearance, will perform songs from her upcoming debut album Beautiful, Loved and Blessed, due March 21. Prince's new album 3121 comes out the same day. Tickets for the show cost $50 and go on sale today through Ticketmaster. The SNL performance was very cool. I didn't expect it to be that great and I was surprised to be in that much awe again. Prince is just on a higher level than everyone else. I think his new album coming out next month might be something really special.
I was surprised too. It looks like his artistic pendulum has swung back to a more rock oriented groove. The girl, I thought was so-so.
But it says he is also coming out with his own album on the same day. So I'd think he'd be promoting his stuff as well as hers. If he just plays guitar, that would be disappointing if I were to shell out the dough.
If John Blackwell is playing drums for her, I'm there. Not sure if he's with Prince anymore because he wasn't on the SNL gig.
