What else do you use for comparison? Apparently hypothetical situations are thrown around here like Roger Clemens on roids.
Kobe was so overrated that they decided to trade Shaq instead. Like Kobe was going to win any more championships or even an MVP..
Kobe was so selfish he decided to break up a potential dynasty in the making thus forcing the Lakers to trade Shaq. If it wasn't for his constant b****ing about getting players and in the process throwing his own teammates under the bus, he would be just another Robin with 3 rings, instead of 5.
Nobody said Kobe wasn't a punk, just that he's a better basketball player than that one guy everyone seems to make hypothetical situations about.
For a guy that a certain group of followers love unconditionally, he sure had his problems with coaches/management. Except for JVG of course.
I agree Tmac was better during his prime years. But better defender? That's kind of stretching it.....
Your video was in 2003. The MVP in the 02-03 season was Tim Duncan. I'm going to say Tim Duncan at that time was the best player on the planet. You can say all you want, I believe that YOU WANTED him to be the best player, but he never was.
Yeah, nobody made exceptions for people. Michael Ray Richardson > Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson (pre-cocaine addiction and banned permanently from the NBA) this is the way it really is. Kobe > T-Mac PERIOD. I know obviously there's a little cult of Tmac fans here, Kobe fans don't even freaking mention your hero's name cause he's not relevant.

Why is it so wrong to make a distinction between over careers and peak? It's two different things. If you ask me who I would rather have for ten seasons, I obviously pick Kobe. If you ask me who I'd rather have for one season at the peak of their ability, I choose T-Mac. Why is that such a ludicrous concept? Why is it sooooo appalling to comparing players with anything else BUT their ENTIRE career?
Nothing, but it seems like people make an exception for this player more than most. Nobody is saying hey Patrick Ewing > Akeem when Ewing was at Georgetown . The starter of this thread was the first person to mention Kobe, but the video he shows doesn't have Kobe on it. Why would their names be associated? And I think it's only here and only a few fans. If you talk to anybody else randomly about Kobe, I doubt Tracy McGrady of the early 2000s gets mentioned.
That's not an apt comparison because Hakeem was eventually better than Ewing and his peak is better than Ewing's in the NBA. T-Mac's peak is better than Kobe's peak.
What does peak mean? Hakeem's peak was he won the MVP, DPOY, and Finals MVP. offense, defense, individual, team What exactly is T-Mac's peak? when he was the scoring leader and he led the Magic to a playoff loss? What ? scoring? Kobe dropped 81 in one game. What's Tmac's peak scoring game? Maybe you think it's just tinman cause posts a lot. it's not just me dude. the perception that Kobe was always better than Tmac is basically universal. This whole comparison or idea of the comparison of the two , especially now in 2011, is based on jealousy and envy. It's the only logical answer.
Peak, in my opinion, means a single season. T-Mac's 2002-2003 season was by far better than any of Kobe's season individually. It's patently unfair to say "he led them to a play-off loss" because basketball is a team game and no one in the world would win with the second best player being Pat Garrity. The 81 point game argument is so r****ded I don't even want to address it. Jordan never had an 81 point game. Is Kobe better than Jordan?
...in continuation David Robinson career-high is 71 points vs Clips Hakeem Olajuwon career-high is 52 points vs Nuggets What does it all mean? It means nothing
