That about sums it up! =D

I love IT and technology, but looking back I'd probably do it a little differently. I've actually contemplated career changes several times, and 3D printing has gotten me back in to design... who knows what the future holds.

In a perfect world one of the many apps or games I'm working on would make me rich so I could do whatever the hell I wanted.

Looking back, if I could do it again I would have gotten my degree in computer science and never flinched. Programming is where the money is.

I love scripting for administrative tasks, but I don't think I would do programming... I don't want to make software or some java applet. I'm doing classic Perl right now, combining with some bash. PHP is next in this project where I'm mainly working.

 I wouldn't give up this career for another but until my daughters and family is well financially and stable enough to retire or become a teacher, my other forte.

My career has always come to me, not me to it. This is a good and a bad thing.

I went to pharmacy school b/c of the job market, high salary, prestige, etc. Bad decision.

I'm now in medical school (and business school) b/c money didn't make me happy and I wanted to take care of patients and in the future have influence over healthcare policy in Texas.

I don't care, as long as it's somewhat easy, makes good money and looks respectable.

It was pre-ordained. I pretty much just followed in my brother's footsteps as he ascended a few years earlier. It was good that I had a path to follow. I probably would have been lost otherwise. But, it's not like I got a chance to say I really want to do this or that for a career. I honestly had no idea what I wanted to do nor did I really get a chance to explore it. I don't felt like I had a choice when it came down to it as it was just expected but I didn't pay for it so Dad was pulling the strings on what I should do. I don't recall "would you be happy doing this?" having a thing to do with it. It's more like "what is going to get you a job with enough money to comfortably support yourself and what job will likely be in demand long term?".
