They also said the album will be availible as a CD, by itself, early next year. Oski, did you have an account with their online store W.A.S.T.E.? If you entered thine email address, it probably went through
nope. you can reserve a download, but cannot actually download the album until October 10th, when it releases digitally
So what if I download it tonight? Is it $82? Do I not receive it til Spring of '08? What is this Head of Rodeo of which thou speak? Is it a human head? Where am I? What the hexagon!?!
Just fyi for the few that mentioned they liked "old" Radiohead, This album, I have heard most of the songs live (they played them on tour) and although the arrangment will be different no doubt, this should be a fairly rock based album. There are at least 4 songs on there, that will be more rock based than anything done in a very long time.
buy now! as quick as our dollar is dropping, it might be over $100 in a month or so. its definitely a zany experiment, but if it works out well they will probably make more money than they would w/ a label. and if it doesnt, they are rich as crap anyway, so no big loss. this is a nice f-u to the music industry. i hope it works out for them and other bands follow suite. i initially didnt like hail to the thief, but i think it might be my favorite radiohead album now (or close second to ok comp). it seems to take elements from all their previous stuff. cant wait to hear the new stuff. id gladly put in 5 bucks to download it.
Radiohead has got so much free publicity from this, the whole scheme is bound to work. I've seen this story mentioned on everything from financial news sites, mainstream headline news to celebrity news sites as well. If the album was just a regular release, most of the population wouldn't even know it was being released, but this is pretty brilliant of them from a marketing standpoint.
