What's better is that after his initial scream, you know exactly what he'd say about the woman who lost: "After being within 500 dollars, HEART!!! BREAK!!! CITY!!!" Someone needs to rerecord the moment with various clips of Gus.
That was really bizarre, especially because Drew Carey, or at least from the eps I've seen, has always been a pretty animated and jovial host... Weird.
I've only seen one episode with Drew Carey and he was like that the entire time. Like he just shot up heroine before the show.
From what I can tell, the story is this: There was a guy in the audience who watches the show religiously and has gone to several tapings of TPiR. The items in the guy's showcase were all items that are used very regularly. The guy memorizes the prices of the items given away on the show when he watches it on TV. The guy in the audience giving advice simply added up the values of the items in the Showcase. Somehow the guy in the Showcase Showdown knew to listen to this guy. I think he also listened to the guy for advice on his bid to get up on stage, which he also nailed exactly. After the guy made the bid, apparently they paused taping for 45 minutes or so as all the suits that work on the show decided what to do. They figured he hadn't broken any rules so they resumed taping and the guy won both showcases.
I agree. I thought Drew has been doing a good job. It was almost borderline sarcastic when he read the results.
really? every time I've seen that show he is exactly like that. extremely boring and almost clueless as to whats going on

I'm sure somewhere on the Price is Right bbs there's a thread talking about how there is a Rockets bbs with thousands of posts....about the Rockets.
drew can't hold barker's jock strap on game show hosting, very weird replacement, like when louis anderson had a stint on family feud, stick with the old man old lady kissing pimps please
The taxes he had to pay would easily be covered by the $26,000 cash he won on the showcase showdown. I don't understand why this is the first thing so many people say about winning on gameshows. Some guy will win a million bucks on TV and my mom will act like he's actually going to be in a worse situation than when he started...
The folks that run into problems are those that win prizes without the benefit of winning cash. Assume someone wins a showcase valued at $50,000 without the benefit of cash. They have to come up with the money to pay the tax on the prizes.
Why can't I ever get that lucky??? P.S. Watching Drew Carey even attempting to display emotion was bad. That's what happens whenever you let somebody from Cleveland try to run things.
I'm pretty sure its less than $500, which she was. Maybe they are trying to generate excitement. Getting rid of Drew would definitely be a start
Source: http://www.walletpop.com/blog/2008/12/18/price-is-right-winner-didnt-cheat-he-did-his-homework/ Price Is Right winner didn't cheat - he did his homework! Josh Smith Dec 18th 2008 at 4:45PM Filed under: Extracurriculars Shortly after the December 16 episode of The Price Is Right aired, in which Terry won a double showcase by guessing the exact price of his three piece prize, rumors began circulating that he had somehow cheated. Terry, not one to take these allegations lying down appeared on air with a DJ from "93.1 The Party" in Las Vegas to let America know how he arrived at his new lucky number $23,743. So how did Terry end up at $23,743? It turns out that Terry's perfect bid took a lot of knowhow and a little bit of luck. You see, appearing on The Price is Right wasn't something he did on a whim; Terry and his wife joined countless others in line outside the studio at 3 a.m. playing their own pricing games, while they waited to get into the show. Terry has been following the show for quite a while, which is how he won $500 earlier in the episode by bidding the exact price of a ceramic egg cooker. Terry knew its price as well as the prices of two items in his showcase because they had made previous appearances on The Price is Right. This left the trailer, which Terry knew averaged $1,000 a foot getting him up to $23,000. By luck or chance, he blurted out,"743", before he knew what happened which earned him a spot in Game Show History. During the chat Terry tells us that the only audience member he even paid attention to was his wife, who confirmed his initial arrival at $23,000. He also insisted that even if audience members had been yelling the correct price his hearing problem would have stopped him from hearing them clearly. Terry was as shocked as anyone at the win, comparing the feeling to, "being dipped in Novacaine!" There you have it straight from Terry, the perfect bidder's own mouth, He didn't cheat!
