lol mcain can't answer to why palin just laughed when his supporters say stuff like kill him and terrorist
via yahoo: OBAMA: Said that if families get a $5,000 tax credit for buying health insurance and the insurance then costs $12,000, that's a loss for them. THE FACTS: The tax credit offered by McCain is more generous for the vast majority of people than the current tax break, which they would lose, according to the Tax Policy Center. Now, people don't pay taxes on the health benefits they get from work. Obama's statement gives the impression that $5,000 is all that workers will be getting to help them pay for a health plan, but that's just what the federal government will provide. Economists say most employers would still contribute to their workers' health insurance. The Lewin Group, a health care consulting firm, found that by taxing health benefits but providing a tax credit, the average family would come out $1,411 ahead.
Unfortunately, yes. It was at the end... McCain was getting up to go over to shake the moderator's hand, but he couldn't decide which side of the table to use and he tried to use these folksy faces. Really bizarre.
That doesn't cover the issue of the study showing that about 20 million people would be out of a health care plan and left to fend for themselves.
Real. You can see it in context here. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BOrDndNNwVk&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BOrDndNNwVk&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I see...no big deal, but as a still it looks awful...McCain really needs to understand the dynamics of looking Presidential.... DD
It kind of reminds me when Bush was in China. Just not sure where to go. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/YDYssU_27rQ&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/YDYssU_27rQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Can someone explain McCain's statement regarding doing away with teacher certification requirements for soldiers? I really hope I'm missing something here and there's more to this...
Rapid youtube ad by the Obama campaign on McCain trying to distance himself from Bush. If Obama runs the country as well as he runs his campaign, he will make an excellent president. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wlrf32JI708&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wlrf32JI708&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
My first reaction was to assume he misspoke and meant he wanted to make it easier for soldiers to get education. There's no way he's advocating, in response to a question as to why our education system is in shambles, that one of his solutions is to allow soldiers to teach without certification....
Exactly. I turned immediately to my girlfriend, who I was watching the debate with, and said, "Is he a moron? They just asked him what he would do to fix the education system, and he replied by saying he would pass a law making soldiers teachers, and not even have them certify?!?!"
I put the quote a last page. ""We need to encourage programs such as Teach for America and Troops to Teachers where people, after having served in the military, can go right to teaching and not have to take these examinations which -- or have the certification that some are required in some states." Here's the link to Troops to Teachers: http://www.ed.gov/programs/troops/index.html The program provides stipends to members of the armed forces so that they can obtain certification. Or instead of a $5K stipend, they can get a $10K bonus if they agree to teach in a high poverty school. Candidates must have at least a bachelors degree and have an honorable discharge. And . . . I'm still not sure why he says they should be allowed to skip the certification progress. It seem to me that this is a program that helps soldiers become certified after they separate from the military.
