Beshear was not particularly inspiring to me. He had the lack of enthusiasm and monotonous tone of a person selling diabeetus testing supplies.

Have to give a ton of credit for the few liberals on this thread for acknowledging that this was a very good speech. And quite engaging. Trump winning for the American people is what we should all root for.

Sucks we wasted almost 8 years of not spending on our infrastructure, but I will tip my hat to Trump if he can actually get that same GOP Congress to actually invest in this country that doesn't involve guided missiles.

Just because it has been painted that Trump is a divisive individual...But his speech shows that he really loves this nation. And anyone on either side of the aisle who supports that vision have to be acknowledged and respected...

The problem is that we have a speech length worth of his Tweets that say otherwise.

Yes we should. Some in this thread have not shared this sentiment since 2009. I wish President Trump well.

You're supposed to forget the last year of unhinged, nutball speeches, comments, tweets, executive actions, and appointments.

I think so. I wish he would stay at this level of presidential, but it was simply a well-considered and well-written speech... by someone.

He did have his touches, to give him his due. I like this Trump edit: where he said we could have rebuilt American 2 times, or maybe 3 times if we knew how to negotiate. That was pure gold, Jerry, pure gold.

Still, after the nice presentation and surprising leader of unity, it's still his core nationalist policies. I'll believe a middle-class tax cut when I see it. All the weather vanes are showing massive tax cuts for the rich with not much help, or even hurt, to the rest of us, but we'll see.

And on infrastructure, yes, the dems and Obama were begging for that for nearly a decade, so that would be great if it can get past this Congress.

The problem with this speech is not the text itself. The problem is most of it was Bullshit. Tomorrow, you will get the real Trump when he tweets and signs E.O.'s. When he guts the health care of millions, Promotes hatred of Muslims, Jew, and Hispanics, and ignores Global Warming......That's the real Trump.

It was important that he moderate his tone to settle down the populace. Good for him and ultimately, good for us. It's nice that he promised all these things to the American people and I legitimately hope he can deliver on some of those, especially infrastructure. I was a little irked at the immigrant crimes task force but it's a minor quibble, I guess.

All in all, a speech filled with promises and short on details. I will anxiously await his next tweet to tell me how to feel about things.

The whole VOICE thing only purpose is to promote hate and fear of immigrants. It really has no other purpose but that. So, nice speech...but the actions will always speak louder.

    fact checking Trumps speech:
    http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/fact...rumps-address-joint-session/story?id=45801701

Fact Check #2: Number of Americans out of the labor force
What Trump said: "Ninety-four million Americans are out of the labor force."

What we know: This number, offered by Bureau of Labor Statistics data, is misleading. It includes every person over 16 years old who isn't working -- people who are high school students, people who are in college and people who are retired. These groups account for more than half of the number Trump cites. It also includes people who are disabled or are stay-at-home parents. The Bureau of Labor Statistics puts another number -– “number of unemployed persons” -- at 7.6 million people.
