His arrest is a violation of human rights. You're full of double standards.

Have you ever try reading anything to the left of the NYT, which functions now days like the house organ of official Washington. This is the reason why so many Americans got it wrong on Iraq.

I don't see Venezuela as being that oppressive. You can't expect no hard measures from a government when you have undemocratic forces/ parties who lose elections and seek help from a strong foreign power to overturn election results.

Perhaps unlike most Americans you can put yourself in their shoes. If Russia or even France raised government money to fund GOP politicians and organize political student movements to have street demonstrations against the Obama Administration would you understand if they took some strong executive action to resist this?

You might read many sources, but if they are all of the same point of view you still aren't seeing the whole picture.

He completely lost me when he brought up integrity... It's no secret that the US (and or the bankers) is always meddling... But the devil can't get your soul unless you sale it to him.

You can take the "well your media is always lying" card and shove it. I'm sure you get your news from the Maduro propaganda and self-felacio site venezuelanalysis.com.

Hugggh? For most of us not all issues, foreign and domestic revolve around Israel.

Regarding "fair democratic election process" and a "fair shot at the ballot box" I'll take Jimmy Carter's opinion and integrity over your Fox News and right wing Panama Post.

You're so far to the left, everything appears to be right. Antonio Ledezma was arrested while in his office with zero evidence. It's no coincidence that he was arrested on the anniversary of Leopoldo Lopez's arrest the year before... another human rights violation.

True story from last week. I met a Latino in Houston.

I asked him where his family was from. He said Venezuela. I asked him whether he thought Obama was correct that Venezuela is a real threat to American security. He admitted that he had grown up in the US but got most of his info from his wife who grew up in Venezuela. He said "yes, they are so crazy. The V's are friends with the Iranians who want nukes and then they will get them from their buds in Iran and therefore attack the US.

Needless to say, that after a couple of pleasantries I left him with the also truth that a couple of Venezuelans I know in Houston support the government.

I think a lot of the hysteria about Venezuela and Iran too is about at that level of sophistication.

True story from last week. There is a new translator in a court I go to. Nice guy with very good Spanish translation.

I asked him where his family was from. He said Venezuela. I asked him whether he thought Obama was correct that Venezuela is a real threat to American security. I expected him to say not really but he hates the government.
