Apparently based on how badly the Bush admenstruation destroyed American prestige and respect around the globe.

I'm sure the taliban would agree.

So you agree with the Taliban?

seriously, did you really need to quote terrorists who were inlvolved in 911 to express your disagreement regarding Obama's nobel peace prize?

At first I wasn't sure that he deserved it. Then I thought about the U.S. being an example to the rest of world, and the way he has used diplomacy to accomplish things, such as leading the way in getting inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities, and getting the Russians on board with that. We've gotten increased cooperation from Pakistan as well.

All of this is do to the kind of diplomacy that Obama has exhibited. I could see him possibly deserving the prize for that.

But then I saw in the other thread that people in basso's wife's office where they have life size posters of Obama think it's ridiculous, then that convinced me it was was wrong for him to get the prize.

I may misunderstand your meaning here, but I am quite proud that our president is held in such high esteem that his merely stating our intention to re-engage the world with rational, pragmatic, diplomatic and sane policies has merited a Nobel Peace Prize.

I think the Taliban condemn his prize simply based upon the fact that they are being killed.

I'm sure this is a big part of it, but I think the change in direction and approach Obama has established has on its own been incredibly important. I really hope it can be sustained, and hopefully this will help. I think his Cairo speech, and probably his race speech as well, will go down in history as landmark events in world and American history.

Now Americans don't have to wear Canadian flags anymore. You can just wear an Obama button instead. ;)

So in the last 3 years, the Nobel Peace Prize has been given for Al Gore's presentation on global warming and to Obama for his aspirations of world peace?

I mean I expected the guy would get a Nobel Peace Prize at some point during his term but already?

Just more proof that the Nobel prize these days is about as meaningful as a Grammy.

No real deep meaning here. I'm really just poking fun at velouria and all of his "ah HAAA!!!" posts in this thread/forum - not to mention trying to break in my newest bbs catchphrase...

SO YOU AGREE WITH THE TALIBAN?

Obama should give a speech and thank "W". He earned some gratitude for this one.

They don't vote on February 1st. Stop spreading false info.

The nominees were submitted by February 1st. 205 people were nominated this year. The voting was done this month.

In the early '70's, I wore a Texas flag on my back (on a work shirt) when hitching a ride in Europe. Worked like a charm and confused the hell out of the natives!
