They wouldn't happen if John McCain were President. The war would drag on, and his economic policies would keep us in a deep recession. Deal with it.

In this post Glenn Greenwald really captures my feelings about the prospects for an Obama Administration and Democratic control of Congress. With rolling disaster of Republican rule over the last 8 years, it is just about impossible for the Democrats to be anything but a huge improvement. However, that doesn't even come close to good enough. There are plenty of bad Democrats that give way too much influence to entrenched corporate interests and without the will to fight for our civil liberties. Getting rid of the Republicans is just a first step on a very long and difficult road. For this reason, I've been focusing on supporting Democratic challengers in targeted primaries so that we don't get just more Democrats, but better Democrats.
A deepening recession, more companies moving operations overseas to avoid increased corporate taxes, continued falling government revenues, deepened deficits, abandonment of most spending proposals, extended presence in Iraq, worsened conditions in Afghanistan, a renewed commitment to missionless "peacekeeping" military action like in the Sudan.
An excellent start. Review every executive order issued by the Bush administration Restore the DOJ to credibility Review all governnment agency rules and policy making and rescind every Bush ordered change that weakened regulation or limited oversight
If Obama wins, it will be a huge step for America because we've always had a white president. It will be a good thing for America because we are a melting pot and a man of every race should be a president in this country. It will be a bad thing because there are still racist people in this country and who knows how they will deal with having a half black running the country. I expect the country to bounce back from the financial meltdown, confidence is restored and the war is ended.
he will hire competent people, no Michael Brown, Alberto Gonzales, Rumsfeld, etc. he will focus on the economic recovery. i expect Obama will divert US troops from Iraq to Afghanistan; captureing / killing bin Laden is a real possibility in his first term.
1. To end the war, and concentrate on that dood who is so good at hiding from cia agents.=/ 2. commerce with all nations, alliance with none! 3. to embrace the leftist brotherhood in latin america, and not look down on it. i think i quoted another terrorist from the late 1700s on #2.
It all depends on who he surrounds himself with; Obama is not as experienced as he sounds. If he defers to Pelosi, we are in deep trouble.
Well we will go into a deep dep recession and overload debt so bad that the dollar will be less valuable than a paper clip. Look at the poll numbers vs. the stock market. Weird the -1 beta between Obama's polls and the market, huh?
Don’t get complacent! Play hard to the buzzer! It’s not over until the fat lady sings, etc. A lot can happen in 3 weeks, and a little bit of complacency and arrogance could easily turn the tide. It’s happened before and it could happen again, so stay humble and stay hungry! And if Obama does win it will only be a landmark. Obama is just one man in a system that is rooted in old ways and a dated worldview. The promise of the kind of change that Obama represents to so many people will ultimately only be fulfilled though a broader movement. In other words, it’s ultimately up to us what changes will be made, by Obama and by other like minded leaders amongst us, and we need to get involved at all levels (in both US and Canada) and stay involved in the ongoing discussion and action. This is a pivotal moment in history. Let’s not lose focus and fumble the ball just as we’re about to cross the goal line.
I don't think Hillary want a cabinet position, maybe I am off on that. But She would be a top candidate for Supreme court. Richardson might consider it, but what would you appoint him as? Chuck Hegal might be the Secretary of Offense.
IF he wins the presidency, he has the stage set to make his legacy great, it also could completely screw up his political career if we don't see drastic positive change after his possible term is up.
I really wish you guys wouldn't get so excited. There is still 3 weeks left before election date. A lot can still happen. Don't get me wrong, I am in Obama's corner but I realize there is a lot of stuff out there that can still happen.
