I have yet to see how restoring capital gains taxes to the rate they were under Bill Clinton goes against any American values. I don't see how wanting to pay for something so as to decrease the deficit is going against any American value. You've shown what you believe Obama advocates that goes against American values, but now it begs the question, what American values do you believe it goes against?
It is obvious that you don't recognize this man's rhetoric. He states, in a subtle but very revealing moment, that people should pay what is "fair". This man believes in taxing the crap out of the people. He believes that it's fair to tax the millionaires at a 35% rate. Is it really fair? In the current economy, does it make any logical sense to increase taxes on the middle class? As an accountant I can appreciate taxes because I make money off of it. But when an investor puts up his capital, lays it all on the line, then gets taxed out the ass to fund ACORN, it begs the question, what the hell are these tax dollars being used for. Wouldn't the middle class benefit from having more expendable cash or money in savings rather than cough it up to the federal govt. Wouldn't those dollars be better used in, perhaps, another investment. As for your arguement about him wanting to decrease the deficit, here's an idea, stop spending. Cut federal spending and cut taxes, plain and simple. We don't need a bloated federal government with inefficient bureacracies that employ people by the tens of thousands, WHO DON'T PRODUCE ANYTHING! But, Obama has been successful in expanding the federal government's power in the last year and a half. So successful, in fact, that he now has beauracratic powers over your health.
I think I understand just fine. You don't understand where ACORN got it's funding. I have yet to see why it's bad that ACORN was funded either. I've never seen a good reason why presented. Raising the taxes on the rich to the level they were under Clinton, which isn't even what they were under Reagan is betraying which American values? Paying what's fair in taxes doesn't sound against any American value that I'm aware of. Under Obama middle class America have gotten a tax break and certainly have not had them go up. You also don't understand the health care bill. The govt. has absolutely zero beauracratic power over my health or anyone else's unless they are on the programs that existed long before Obama such as Medicare. What govt. spending would you like to see cut? I'm not opposed to cutting a good deal of govt. spending, especially where the military spending is involved, since that's such a huge part of the federal budget. The bottom line is that you seem unable or unwilling to tell me what American values you believe Obama has betrayed or pursued policies to destroy.
Expanding the role of the federal government is against american values. Increasing taxes on american citizens is against american values. Shoving a massive socialized medicine law down the throats of the people whom a majority were against is against american values. Redistributing wealth, which is what the health care bill essentially is, is against american values. Appointing radical leftists into positions of enormous power without the consent of congress is against american values (especially when the majority of americans identify themselves as conservatives).
The health care bill isn't socialized anything. What part of the bill do you believe is socialist? Either you don't understand the bill or you don't understand socialism. All income tax is progressive. The income tax, medicare, social security, and many other things which have long been part of this nation are redistribution of wealth, and all were around long before Obama.
1) there wasnt a blasted thing funny about any of those personal attacks you posted 2) keep it up and you will be arguing your politics elsewhere. this may be the wasteland of this forum, but we do still have some standards here, and if you cant deal with stupid political posturing without the personal attacks, you wont last.
Amazing... after Boehner visits with business lobbyists to see what the Republican agenda should be and idiotically states that there should be no new regulations there arrives an editorial from the Weekly Standard decrying regulations. This article and post, as well as basso's vile little cartoon are symptomatic of the Republican mindset... we love being enslaved by corporations, we love the ball and chain that is our current health care system... and if there is anything that threatens that control over us, we will protest those marginal attempts at freedom as our masters wish. If you think health care reform will costs jobs, think about how many people want to start a business that are tied to their current positions because they can't afford to risk not having any kind of coverage because of their condition or that of a family member. Can you not see that freedom will be a result of this? Freedom to change jobs, freedom to find your real calling in the work place, freedom to move, etc.? And I really don't get the heartburn over financial reform. These guys lied to us for decades, swindled us out of trillions of dollars, and laughed about it, not giving a damn about what it did to people or the country. Much of the Tea Party anger is directed at the very things this bill is trying to fix. Do you like paying usurious rates on credit cards and a stupid fees for everything? If so, your masters love you and I'm sure they will make sure you are sufficiently enraged over the consumer protection measures... most likely in the form of "those stupid (read minorities, hippies, losers, homos) people are not as smart as I am because I have a "low" interest credit card and I am not stupid enough to pay all those fees (except the ones I pay) and I am more of a bootstraps kind of guy when I lose my house. Break the chains bud, you have nothing to lose. Regarding basso's cartoon, that is yet another example of projection by Repubs refusing to accept their responsibility for this crisis. The dog thing is kind of funny in an absurd sort of way and is so over the top it makes me think that cartoon was drawn by a closet liberal making fun of the wingnuts (or else the author is just stupid)... every President since at least Ike has flown their dog around.
id rather have a president bowing to a king than holding hands and making out w/ the prince of a country where 15 of 19 9/11 hijackers came from.
do you wash your penis in the sink on MLK day? millionaires are 'middle class'? when bush was president the federal government tripled in size. he also spent more than all previous presidents combined - but republicans loved it and anyone who dared criticize bush was labeled unamerican and unpatriotic. but now a democrat comes along and all of a sudden republicans are for limited government and fiscal responsibility.
