and, the "for god and country..." comment the seal made just before he pulled the trigger- seriously? a guy gets Osama in his sights, takes a moment to utter an unforgettable line, then pulls the trigger?

My understanding was that Bush had downgraded the importance of actually catching OBL, since he was mostly neutered anyway, in order to concentrate on other threats. Obama put it back on top of the priority list. Getting OBL is a great PR coup, but I don't know if Bush was wrong to take the approach he did.

 

Bush started an entire war to get OBL.

Then he started another war to get OIL.

 

So somebody kills 3,000 Americans and it's not a priority to bring him to justice? Wowie.

"god and country" was not said before the kill shot. It was radioed to report that OBL was a downed target, after the 2nd shot. From the article:

"The first round, a 5.56-mm. bullet, struck bin Laden in the chest. As he fell backward, the SEAL fired a second round into his head, just above his left eye. On his radio, (IE: after OBL has a slug in his dome) he reported, “For God and country—Geronimo, Geronimo, Geronimo.”

I think people should pick at the account, but pick from a position of actual reading comprehension.
