I've never believed GW Bush was a bad man but he certainly was a mediocre man who wasn't up for the job. I don't believe Dick Cheney, Rumsfeld or any of the other members of the Admin who largely shaped its policy are bad men at heart but they are ideologically stubborn men convinced of their own righteousness. The hallmark of the this Admin seemed to be ideological loyalty and unquestioning devotion to a particular course. In some ways those are very good traits but when that loyalty and stubborness blinds you then they are almost fatal flaws. So many the problems of this Admin. whether Iraq, Katrina, the firing of Fed. attorneys can all go back to those fundamental traits. I think the lesson to be learned from the Bush 43 Administration is to be prepared to challenge your views, strategy and even friends and change when needed.
