When the trade requests came out, I talked myself into accepting a Harden & Westbrook trade; I was actually excited about rebuilding. Then I talked myself back into the Harden & Westbrook pairing once the trade talks simmered. So, I learned that whatever happens, I will still be excited for a new season.
MDA should have been "let go" the second they lost the last game against the Lakers for the sole reason of neutering BMac in the playoffs. Literally the only A+ three point shooter on the team and he effectively benches him.
BMac neutered himself in the playoffs, and not just against the Lakers. Dude was ICE COLD and he couldn't defend a lick.
He shot 39% from three in the playoffs, lol. In Game 1 vs. OKC he was great. He was less great in future games, but part of a coaches job, like MDA, is to get those types of players playing their best. MDA never was good with that at role players. Instead, he'd just stick with whatever one he was comfortable with, regardless of how they played, and keep a VERY short leash on ones he wasn't comfortable with. Austin Rivers played one extra game, 7 more mpg and shot 26% from three.... for example.
We both know that Ben only had one good game. "Less Great" outside of that one game is downright misrepresentation.
Jae’Sean Tate The Rockets signed the 6’4” forward to a three-year deal partially-guaranteed deal, and he’ll be battling for one of the final few roster spots or assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers G-League affiliate. Kenny Wooten The Rockets claimed Wooten off of waivers from the New York Knicks this offseason and signed him to a two-way deal, which means they likely expect him to, at the very least, spend some time in Rio Grande Valley. And with the team re-investing in big men after the failed small ball experiment, the 6’8” power forward has the chance to make his mark on the team with his athletic dunking and shot-blocking ability. He averaged 3.6 blocks per game (not a misprint) last season for the Westchester Knicks, which is New York’s G-League affiliate. https://www.thedreamshake.com/2020/...layer-previews-jaeshawn-tate-and-kenny-wooten
Training Camp Roster Sterling Brown - signed for one-year, guaranteed veteran’s minimum contract Bruno Caboclo - signed two-year contract with a team option for 2021-22 Chris Clemons - contract becomes fully guaranteed Feb. 27, 2021 DeMarcus Cousins - signed one-year, non-guaranteed contract Jerian Grant - signed one-year contract, terms undisclosed Gerald Green - signed one-year, non-guaranteed contract Mason Jones - signed two-way contract KJ Martin - signed four-year rookie contract Trevelin Queen - signed training camp contract Jae’Sean Tate - signed three-year, partially-guaranteed contract Brodric Thomas - signed training camp contract Kenny Wooten - claimed off waivers from Knicks, two-way contract Christian Wood - signed three-year contract https://www.thedreamshake.com/2020/...es-everything-you-need-to-know-nba-basketball This training camp is all about learning the new system After accustoming themselves to Mike D’Antoni’s offense for the past four seasons, Stephen Silas and his new coaching staff will look to replicate their top-efficient offense that Silas helped create with the Dallas Mavericks last season. While the Rockets will continue to have a high three-point volume and create a lot of spacing, the team will look to create more pick-and-roll opportunities and have more off-ball movement.
He had a dnp and 3 games with like 3 minutes. In others he got 10 minutes. I’m not advocating he should be playing 30 minutes. Nor am I advocating people who suck getting more minutes... in the playoffs. Am just noting that part of MDAs job would have theoretically involved getting players like BMac to play better. and when you factor in that MDA will keep playing other bench players that suck. Or even starters that suck (hi EG)... my point remains.
And it's also on the player to not be a liability when he gets minutes. Accountability is a 2 way street. Rivers is also another example of this.
yet Rivers didn’t get a dnp and played more minutes than BMac. While playing worse. hence my comment. or EG. Who was atrocious for 65% of the playoffs.
But neither was a much of liability as a switch defender as McLemore was. He was not just unable to switch to bigger players but was exceedingly foul prone against all players. Context matters.
Im excited for number 35. Hihi It feels like years ago since we had a big. And cousins too. That man has range and can pass too. Sweet
Austin Rivers was not good at defense. again... I’m not saying he played well. I’m saying MDA’s coaching and use of him wasn’t good.
