He has, but then again the Rockets have played the last 2 games against the Durants and the Grizzlies. Not exactly prime competition. He's had a lot of poor games both in the summer league and the preseason, so I'm still on the fence when it comes to Brooks. Hopefully, it's his hard work finally paying off, but until he starts performing like this consistently instead of in flashes, I'm not going to be sold on him. (I sure hope that his recent play is a sign of things to come!)
imo, the competition isn't very relevant pre-season. Brooks' options? get the ball up court safely, deliver to the primaries drive to the basket for a score drive & pull up J drive & dish spot up J he has the skills to fulfill those options, the correct choice is his issue. Adelman is doing a great job of letting him (& others) just play.
As I see a great game by Houston and what's more we played without Mac, Yao and we still managed to play our best game of the season. So bad I couldn't watch the game because I had problems with my PC but hopefully I will watch game against the Kings.
Brooks needs to learn more PG tricks. He is lacking a teardrop and seems to rely too much on the backboard to score on a layup. For his size, driving against a defender and banking a shot is not a good idea. He needs to be able to maintain body control so he could sink the ball right in the basket, banking the ball only positions it better to be blocked. One thing that Rafer was able to do last season was sink layups without driving to the side of the basket for a banking layup. Maybe it's just his style, but rafer knows how to protect his shots a lot better than Brooks. Of course rafer will get blocked by long arm monsters like KG.
I saw Mike Harris congratulating Wafer as he came back to the bench last night...I think he was just congratulating the guy that took his job. Tough choice: You know what you're going to get with Harris but Strawberry and Wafer both have talents that we can definitly use.
they both look better than head in these aspects * Better spot up shooters * Better at dribbling * Better at finishing at the rim * Play more in control Only thing that hes better at is probably the three. Tough choice wish we could move head to get one or both of these guys to stay
Depends on the girl. *rimshot* Agreed. Luther has proven he can hit a big shot here or there, but i think he needs to grow up a little more and he'll be a starter. I mean, anyone who thinks Brooks has a bright future has to see the same potential in head.
brooks has a much different skillset than head. brooks is a lightning quick, dribble drive point guard who can shoot. he is undersized on defense but is capable of causing havoc on the offensive end with his ability to get by his man. head meanwhile is a shooting guard trapped in a point guard's body, with none of the requisite point guard skills. head is both undersized on defense and on offense, where he can't shoot over his man and lacks the handles to blow by anyone (unless they bite for his nasty pump fake). he is a good 3 pt shooter and makes hard cuts, but when defenses zero in on him he is rendered impotent. brooks struggled last year but has much more potential than head, who has proven himself incapable of running point after 3 years in the league and simply lacks the size to be a legitimate 2 guard. and for some reason, when brooks makes a boneheaded turnover, it isn't as infuriating as head's turnovers. with brooks, you get the sense that he'll learn from his mistakes. with head, the turnover is both unwelcome and entirely unsurprising.

Who's Dwight Howard? Oh, the guy that our best center in the NBA, Yao Ming, owned every single time they play head-to-head? Oh! That Dwight Howard! The 2nd best center in the NBA.
I will be at the game Got tickets to the Clubhouse restaurant area with unlimited food and drinks for 50 bucks. But you will see me on TV. I'm not just going to be walking around in the clubhouse.
