Yes, we are in a win now mode. But Barry and Strawberry fill Luther's old role on the team quite nicely and then some.

3 Point Shooters on the team: Battier, Barry, Artest, Luther, Strawberry and potentially Wafer.
Everyone on this list brings more to the table than Luther.

In the playoffs, what exactly has Luther Head brought to the table?

Strawberry is not really known for 3 point shooting. Actually he's known for poor shooting. He shot 3-5 from the 3 one game and everyone thinks he's a shooter. He had a nice pre-season game but let's not jump overboard.

You sir, are indeed right. I just naturally assumed Strawberry was brought onboard for his 3 point shooting, my bad.
I think I read somewhere that Strawberry had been focusing on his 3 point shot this offseason and he has a good stroke, so as a shooting guard myself I predict that Strawberry will become a 34% plus 3 point shooter this season.
As if that counts for anything.

I think Head and Francis would be gone by Feb. The problem is we just cant keep wafer and DJ, and who ever we cut will get snatched up by another team. But I just see how we cut Wafer. He can slash and throw it down, and shoot free throws, can hit the 3 ball, and plays decent defense. I just dont see how this guy gets cut. The last 3 point fade away was not a fluke, this guy can shoot.

As good as Wafer has looked, I almost think he has to be the guy that has to be cut. At the end of the day he's a streak shooter. DJ Strawberry can get to the hole and knows how to draw the foul at least. You can't cut Head because he's the only known quantity of the 3. Francis I wouldn't cut either because if he can make a comeback he could be that missing piece to our bench that we need to make a title run.

whether we keep luther head or sign strawberry or wafer or whatever, none of this really means anything. wafer is still a borderline NBDL talent and doesn't belong a team looking to make a deep playoff run. he might score 23 points in a preseason game against memphis freaking grizzlies but even if they keep him he's not gonna see any playing time other than the last few minutes of 20-point blowouts. same goes for luther or strawberry.

i just don't think the von wafer experiment is going to go any better than the luther head experiment like many of you are hoping. there's a reason no nba team has wanted to keep him around for long.

I think its looking more like Harris or Strawberry that would probably have to go. Harris has a contract waiting for him in China if he gets cut. DJ on the hand could get cut cause if he make the team he will be guaranteed 711K with would be about 1.4M becuase of the LT unless we can find away to get under it. Harris and DJ would probably get a 2 year 400K contract with a team option on the second. Wafer has really worked hard, I think he has to get the nood.

I disagree. Luther has been a part of the rotation for 3 seasons now. I know we brought in Barry to replace him due to lack of productivity in the play offs, but we to keep him fresh for the play offs and there is always injuries. Barry in not that young anymore, and some night he might be called on to play the Point based on Match ups. One of these 3rd string guys is going to have to play when one of the veterans go down due to injuries. Especially this Year, Yao and Tracy have to play less but quality minutes for us to have a chance in April. Who ever gets retained will have to play at some point in time in the season. Luther gives you nothing more than 3 point shooting. DJ and Wafer are looking much better right now

I read somewhere the other day.. that Harris sprained his ankle and that being the reason he is not playing, which isn't cool because I would really like to see him play in these games...

We've seen what he's capable of from last year but I wanted to know how much he improved...

Wafer has shown he can shoot very well...but can he do that consistently???

I think Strawberry has a much more well rounded game, he is very aggressive to the basket and finishes, and is a good free throw shooter. He appears to play much better defense than Wafer and can also hit the 3.

I hope that Morey can be creative and somehow retain the rights to all of these players.

As much as we all know that Luther can shoot the 3 in the regular season. I'd rather gamble on a player who might surpass him in terms of production for our team, since his only going to be our 3rd string SG/SF, he has more size and athleticism, and they're both streaky shooters. I hope Daryl Morey really looks at this option so it can benefit our team.

I hope we can get one of the big men of NJ who's in the range of luther's salary so we can give more size to back up Yao.

Wishful thinking for Williams or Boone.

    Go Rockets!

nothing at all. tho one could make the argument that he drew a bad matchup with the j*zz. BUT setting everything aside, if head is still on the roster, he's not going to crack the lineup with barry taking his spot in the rotation. So have no fear, Luther Head ache won't be anywhere near the rock.

As much as I like Von Wafer, he'd be my cut. Luther, Stevie, and Harris are all making guaranteed money this year (someone correct me if I'm wrong about Harris), and Luther and Steve are making significant guaranteed money. If they're going to be traded, they'll be deadline salary dump. Strawberry can get to the rack, sure, but more important, he's a 3rd PG (not counting Stevie until we see him back on the court).

I dunno, I'm not sold on Wafer yet until he can show me consistency. If he does perform well for the rest of pre-season, I'd rather keep him over Strawberry. Strawberry has more elements to his game but we don't need another sub-par PG. I'd rather keep a guy who can shoot lights out. With Tmac, Artest, and Yao, somebody is going to get a lot of open looks, I want someone who can take advantage of it.

Remember I said, IF Wafer can show consistency. I dont want another streaky shooter on this team. Even Rafer has his moments when he can shoot well, but can he do it throughout the regular season?

Man it really looks like we are playing with some consistancy now don't you guys reckon, we are playing better and settling for better shots and also we seem to play a bit better in Rick Adelman's offence which is a good sign but i would still like to see tmac play one more game hopefully around 15-20 minutes
