Unfortunately, we can't cut steve because he's salary is guaranteed. At this point, the best we can do is wait until he's healthy to see what he's got. If he can contribute, he will be our backup PG, if not, we have to look to dump his salary. The Rockets want to get below luxury tax and Steve's contract is valuable in that sense. He will not be waived but instead traded.

Its a really tough decision. DJ plays better defense but Von is a better shooter by far. I would hate to be the coach right now!

Jr Smith comparisons are legit. but smith is more athletic and a much better defender. he is also a better slasher. but wafer might be a better pure shooter.

my thinking is dorsey, strawberry and wafer means somewhat future, they may help some this season, not much, but sure they play a much more important role in the future.

JR Smith is an absolute horrid defender.

In fact, you could make a case that he is the worst 2-guard defensively in the league..........

Brooks did great. He just needs to go to the tear drop more because he is getting blocked a lot among the trees.

One word for Wafer: Wow. The three-point show reminded me of the '04-'05 team ... Fun times.

    steve and luther can go.

if we can find a way to dump steve without costing us a pick or taking any salary back (buyout / cut) then i'd do it. as for luther, we need to find a way to turn him into a future second round pick.

that way we can keep wafer and strawberry, and have money to sign deke.

Before the start of today's game:
Guess who's leading the team in field goal % and 3 pt% ?
    Luther Head

Guess who's the third worst on the team in field goal % ? (excluding McGrady)
    Von Wafer

Appearances decieve. Up until this point Head has been the better shooter.

*edit: forgot about Alston. Wafer was the 4th worst

I was thinking the same thing cause without Yao in there the Roxs were getting out rebounded but I think Stevies contract is too much or he is guaranteed to much !!!!!!!

Im not sure about everyone else, but im marvelling at the potential that Wafer has shown. He definitely has the tools to become a good NBA player - A Solid Jumpshot, Great Range, Good stroke (which means the potential to become a consistant shooter), Athleticism and A knack for getting to the rim.

We know where Luthers ceiling is, and that the only skills Luther has is a great 3 point shot, athleticism and the uncanny ability to alter his beautiful shot into a ghastly motion of launching the ball into the rim, by bowing to pressure.

I know it's good to see the young players getting evaluated right now but I do want to know from the guys who saw the game why did Ron and Scola do so poorly tonight despite getting big minutes?

Wafer's shooting reminded me of the game Mobley and Dickerson hit 7 threes each in a game for the Rox in their rookie years. We must keep this guy.

    Definitely better than head.

yeah as much as I like Harris, I'm thinking he might be the odd man out. Wafer and DJ just played incredible, especially down the stretch of this game.

Also Harris hasn't played the last few games for some reason. I was thinking it was because he was already pretty much guaranteed a spot and RA wanted to see some of the other young guys, but now I'm not too sure. This is definitely going to be a tough cut as all these players deserve a spot on the roster.

Uh oh the dreaded P word. Considering that the Rockets are a win now mode, I don't think we should risk giving up a player who we know what he brings to the table for a player with the P word, who we don't know how much he can contribute IMMEDIATELY to a championship run.

Ron I am not worried about. The game would come easier to him when he plays with Yao and TMAC. Scola on the other is really beginning to bother me. He seems to have lost a little bit of his agression and seems a little lost in our offense. Hayes played solid as usually. But we really need to sign Deke come Feb.

not too sure, I guess they were just out of rhythm tonight. The rest of the guys just had it going tonight too so the offense was really running through them. I know that Ron made a few good passes though.
