Wafer is Garbage. Alston will be our starting PG for 35mpg. Just face it, Luther Head will be our backup PG this season unless Francis can have an amazing comeback after the ASB. Brooks looks like he's digressed and didn't add anything to his game during the offseason. Luther does a better job playing without the ball, cutting, and spotting up for 3's. Brooks doesn't look ready. Yao / Hayes / Deke* Landry / Scola / Harris Artest / Battier T-Mac / Barry / Francis Rafer / Head / Brooks / Strawberry
They let us in 12 points at 4th quarter with a Pruitt-House-Miles-Powe-O'Bryant lineup. They won the game here, with this players, against Brooks-Head-Wafer-Scola-Hayes. We crashed with the defense: bad played possesions-low talent-well defended. And they scored at the low post with Powe/O'Bryant.
Thats a bad post in so many ways its not funny. wafer is not garbage. he is much better then head and brooks.head wont be the backup PG. if anything he'll be the 3rd or 4th string SG. most probal scenario is he gets traded for a second round pick. also strawberry will be cut.
I could care less what happens to Wafer, and Strawberry. They aren't gonna see any time on the court during the regular season. Luther and Barry compliment eachother well. With Shane, Scola, and Hayes they are our second unit. Time will tell. I am hoping Francis can recover, but I highly doubt it.
At least, compare to Brooks, Head is a better shooter. I think Adelman can use Brooks to change tempo under speical situation. He is a ideal 3rd PG.
I can't blame you for doubting Brooks, ronnymac. You may be absolutely right. My expectations have lowered, too, but I haven't given up on him yet. His speed and ballhandling are outstanding. He isn't a true PG but I think he can create enough that once he starts making better decisions he will be a solid backup PG. He can penetrate almost at will. He just needs to make good decisions after he beats his man. I think he will start doing that. He had a better game tonight even though he missed all his 3s. He is a good shooter, already better than Rafer in that respect. Not worried about his outside shooting. I'd like to see him show that he can hit a mid-range jumper after using a screen or beating his man off the dribble. I want to at least see how the 1st half of the season goes for him before saying he is a lost cause.
Rafer played ok. his shot was off, but he played solid. he was rusdhing things and setting the offense pretty good.box scores arent allways a true indicator of how things went.
My biggest beef is once teams double him or collapse on him, he makes terrible decisions. under pressuree he isnt a great thinker. he makes terrible decisions. he has all the tools, but he also has a shoot first mentality and makes terrible decisions under pressure.
I can't argue with that. Not only is his decision-making awful at times when he is under pressure, he also tries to force things that aren't there. If he can't prove to correct that over the next few months, his negatives will outweigh his positives and we will have to look for another backup solution. Tonight, he cut down on trying to overdo it and was making the simple play more often. There were still a few awful plays but definitely less than the last couple games. If there was ever a case for "keep it simple, stupid", it's with Brooks.
Chuck wasn't guarding o'bryant. Scola was. Chuck was on Powe most of the time he was in. Edit: he did defend O'bryant once where he got a hook shot over chuck
who score for boston? NBA.com, play-by-play ends it with rox winning it 89-88. And I personally think, the recruit of the season is not artest, barry or dorsey. That man is the Brett Gunning. Another good showing at the FT.
