But its up to Francis and Mobley. If their play on the court mimics what they've been saying over and over again to the media we'll be one of the top teams in the west.

If you dont think thats being realistic, kiss my homer ass. ;)

    Oh, I got it.

We should ignore the fact that Cuttino was playing on bad ankles for half the season, but we should remember that Steve was playing through migraines. Thanks, that sounds fair.

Also, if Cuttino were continually selfish by nature and breaking the offense down, my guess is that Rudy would say something to him, and the problem would either be corrected or his minutes would be down.

And I'm still waiting for that quote where Cuttino says he thinks of himself as more than Francis. If you want to question decision-making, you should question the player with the lower shooting percentage, more turnovers, and the worst assist to turnover ratio of any starting point guard in the league.

51W-31L. This is only if our Point Guard and Leader ( No Name) decides to get his assists up and stops thinking about MVP. He must let it happen only secondary to the Team winning! Otherwise it will be more of previous seasons and Dribble Mania. Francis can be our 'Hero' of the year by leading the Rox into 4th in the West!

It's going to take some time to mesh our rotation. Yao will take some time to make up for the training camp he missed. the team will take some time to learn all the nuances of the motion offence.

This being said, I think we will be sub 500 at the All Star break; but finish with a flurry at 44-38 to be the 6th seed. We take out Dallas in 5, but lose to LA in 6.

From the sounds of it....You prob think we should of paid Cat the max? I never said that Cuttino publically said hes better than Steve...please read the posts next time before becoming soo defensive. Cat never said hes better than Steve...but sometimes in games where is tryin to be a hero all the time, his actions speak like he thinks hes the man.

Cat is your man, but Steve is the better player wit ease. So I can understand you getting defensive when your boys game is questioned. Steve is the most talented point in the league and right now I put him behind Kidd as the best at the position. And everything I said about Cat is true, if you want to flip it around and 'hate' on Steve then go ahead, dont change the fact Steve is way better than Cat can dream of being...and until he realizes hes not as good as he thinks he is he will hurt the team. If Cat doesnt start putting team ahead of himself and his stats, then the team will suffer.

If you think Steve hurts the team with all the bad things you said about him, check out the Rockets record without him and realize they dont call him 'Franchise' for nothing. Dont hate...appreciate. Without him the Rockets are in the Lebron James sweepstakes.

Very simple as I see it. If we play as a team we win at least 50 games and STUN the world. If we play iso and the guards try and win by themselves well I guess we will have to wait untill they retire. If we play as a team I don`t see where any other team really out matches us. All Yao has to do is stand there with his hands up and let Griffin come up from the weak side and swat the ball. Teams would have to resort to jumpers. The only team that I see that can really stop the Rocks are the Rocks. I would have loved to have seen Payton and Lewis on this team. I don`t care for the show boating. Three guys open and our guards throw up a turnover = a long season.

82-0 ask and it shall be done. WE CAN DO IT! JUST BELIEVE, or cheat, as long as we get their its all good. Just kidding. Prolly we're gonna pull off 55-12 with the rest of the games being cancelled due to acts of God, bats ( we haven't seen the last of them), and evil mutants. Thats my outlandish prediciton!

winning season and playoffs if we move towards a post up offense. we have a big man, who can dominate now. bring back the post game. that way we have more than just iso's...
...I know...much easier said than done.

Nah, I don't think we should've paid him the max. But, the Rockets have struggled with Mobley out too... you can check that record. Of course, it's less games, but it's still there.

I suppose you can have the "actions speak louder than words" argument, but Cat definitely said that he didn't think of himself as a superstar at all in an article in the paper a week or two back. It's more fair to go by what he says than to try and put words in his mouth.

Also, of course Steve's better than Cuttino. It's not a competition-- but if you're going to compare the two, don't leave out Steve's flaws, especially when they are much the same as Cuttino's. Steve's better than Cuttino because he has a higher talent level... but some of the same things that keep Cuttino from Steve's level keep Steve a bit below the elite level of Kobe, Carter, Payton, etc.

My point isn't that Cat is some superstar, or better than Steve, but that he gets a lot of unnecessary criticism. I don't completely disagree with all of your points, but they are applicable to several members of this team, not just Cuttino.

47-50 wins, the 6th seed and a first round upset of the Mavs.

I predict that we will see some interesting machinations as the offense takes hold. I believe that as Rudy teaches the offense and the players see the value, they will buy in and begin playing a 5 man offense. Even so, improving the offense would only take us up to the .500 mark or so from last year, a 13 game improvement. The Rockets have improved more defensively this year which will add even more games as the Rockets lost many games last year due to lack of stopping power. With Griff starting and Ming in the middle, we will have the defensive power to make up another 9 to 14 wins to bring us to 50-55 wins barring catastrophic injuries.

Did anyone else hear some of Les Alexander's statements on the radio this morning? His predictions seem lofty.

I dont remember the exact quotes, but he said something to the following affect:

He said Yao Ming coming to play in the NBA with the Houston Rockets is the single greatest individual sports story in the world only eclipsed by Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier. He said in two years Yao will be more recognizable than Tiger Woods.

Someone please correct me if ive mistated what he said or misinterpreted it. I did not hear all the interview, but i did hear that part.

    48-34

    First Round fodder.

Ming is rookie of the year.

Francis and Mobley make the All-Star team.

45-37. 7th seed. Ousted in first round by mavs or kings. This assumes steve's headaches are a thing of the past.

We will struggle early in the season and have a good second half if healthy. Hopefully the rox can learn to move the ball around more (CAT). We will likely struggle on D from the 3 spot. Yao being in the paint and Eddie getting more minutes will help our team D look better than it is.

    ROY predictions:

    1. Drew Gooden
    2. Yao Ming
    3. Qyntel Woods
    4. Caron Butler
    5. Jason Williams

Longshot preditions - Clippers in 2nd round of playoffs. Wiz in Eastern conference finals.

Side note- Although Nachbar has done little to impress during games. I saw the guy shooting during halftime of the Rocks / Spurs game in SA and he could not miss from anywhere on the floor. Hopefully, he can do it with someone guarding him.

    Prediction:

    51-31

    3rd seed

The Rockets will lead over the playoffs due to injuries on the opponents. Portland and San Antonio will lose key players such as Tim Duncan (knee surgery), Dale Davis (shoulder), Rasheed Wallace (back). :D :D :D :D :D :D :D crazy predictions but it can happen
